Well, actually only those who think about the future.

I'm sure we've all heard many pundits saying that if Israel attacks Iran, it would bring on world war and cause the price of oil to sky rocket. The current leadership in the US has told Israel in no uncertain terms that it would not allow Israel to attack Iran if unprovoked. Most of the world powers also stand against Israel on this point. As do all of the other Middle East nations.

That said, do you recall when back in 1980, Israel attacked Iraq's attempt to produce a nuclear plant? After they flew in jets to destroy it, the world condemned the attack. Behind closed doors the story was quite different. The US down to the Saudi's applauded Israel's courageous move to wipe out a dangerous adversary lead by Saddam Hussain who was in the midst of building his nations own nuclear bomb. Can you imagine how the war with Iraq would have played out, had the Iraqis possessed the bomb?

Israel finds itself in a similarly precarious position, but worse. The whole world sits idly by watching without a doubt, the worlds most dangerous, fanatical regime, amassing arms and in the midst of building nuclear arms. This same country, Iran, states without hesitation, with clarity both in English, Farsi and Arabic of it's intentions to wipe Israel off the map and then later deal with the large satan, the US and ultimately to take over the world. Does this ring a bell? The only difference between Iran and Nazi Germany is that Iran is lead by their fanatical, diabolical religious beliefs while the Nazi's were for the most part secular. I believe that being sucked into the Islamist killing cult is far more dangerous as they compose the most irrational of all people. They don't fear death. Teaching their children to hate, kill and become suicide bombers is the new normal for them.

While the rest of the world sits with their heads in the sand, Israel is actively planning their attack. Of course they've helped slow down the Iranians progress so far, with computer viruses, lab explosions, and scientist assassinations. And thank G-d they have. But these are little steps. While the US, China, USSR and the UN continue to negotiate with Iran and attempt futile sanctions that to date have done little, Iran continues to build bunkers deep into their rock solid mountains in which to store their arms, uranium and other important nuclear equipment. Once these bunkers are built, they will be almost impossible to destroy. Even the latest US military men admit that they have nothing to destroy them with.

So now, it's not a question of: Does Iran actually possess the bomb? It's a new red line. Does Iran have the ability to move forward on their bomb and missile building in a protected place where no one from the outside can bother them?

For those who worry about the price of oil should Israel attack Iran now, they should worry more about the price of oil if Israel or the US does not attack Iran. Once Iran possesses the bomb, will they use it? You've got to be a fool to think they won't. We'll all have a lot more to worry about than the price of oil if G-d forbid that happens.

I wish that the world had better leadership who would take on Iran right now. I'm sure Israel would be happy to help. But given the real existential threat, Israel might have to go it alone again. Certainly nothing new about that.

I watched an incredible short video clip of a brave Douglas Murray in a debate at Cambridge University, England about this very topic. I have never seen a more inspirational speech. It actually brought tears to my eyes and I urge you all to view it. I think - not so much. I have many reasons for my opinion but here is but one recent example.

I recently watched this short video of Ron Paul asking Hillary some questions about her Middle East policy. Check it out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjnfHuCrCLc&feature=related

Ron is of course right on, on his assessment of the new Egypt outlook on Israel and the West. Hillary sidestepped his question. Now that Mubarek has been kicked out (with the US's full support), all those billions of dollars of weapons that the US has given them makes them a very dangerous entity. Don't forget that Egypt also has the largest Arab army in the world and a huge population as well. Mubarek was no angel but he was 100 % better off to Israel, his own people and us in the West than the crazy Islamists that are taking over now! What a colossal mistake!

Of course Israel wants stability and predictability. And that is exactly what they had with Mubarek in power and exactly what they don't have now. She' s either stupid (I don't think so), naive (maybe) or just so power hungry that she'll agree with whatever her boss says as long as she gets to keep her job (yes, that's it).

Gilad Schalit is a Free Man!

Was the Gilad Schalit trade a good deal for Israel?

This question has been talked about all over the globe recently. To be sure, it was a very difficult decision for the Israelis. There were many pros and cons. Here are a few:

Cons:

1. By agreeing to trade Gilad for over a 1000 terrorists, this sends the terrorists a message that all they have to do is kidnap one Israeli and eventually they'll get to free thousands of their brothers in prison.

2. Justice is not served. There are thousands of convicted terrorists sitting in Israeli prisons. Israeli courts have spent many gut wrenching months prosecuting these animals and have doled out sentences at the time. Now all of a sudden, they are free.

3. Israeli families and friends of the victims of the terrorists are suffering. It was hard enough for them to suffer the losses at the time they occurred; teenagers in discos, innocent civilians eating at restaurants, children killed in school buses, etc. Not to mention the many thousands of injured Israelis, hurt by the many suicide bombers and other Arab terrorists. Now they must add insult to injury by seeing the convicted terrorists walk free.

Pros:

1. Gilad Schalit has become an icon for the fight for justice. Almost the entire world is familiar with his plight. Freeing him after all this time in captivity represents a huge success for Israel, both internally and to the world.

2. In Judaism, life is sacred. Unlike their enemies who don't value life at all, so much so that Arab mothers encourage their children to become suicide bombers, Israelis will do almost anything to save one of their own. Like many other things the Israelis do, they try to elevate the world to a higher standard - by example.

3. There are tens of thousands of convicted Arab terrorists in Israeli prisons. The cost to this tiny country is out of control. For much the same reason that they cannot not afford to govern hundreds of thousands of their enemies living in both Israel proper and what they called the West bank, the Israeli prisons are a microcosm of that. It costs Israeli's well over a million dollars a year just to house 1000 prisoners a year.

4. I'm sure that Netanyahu does not see this simply as negotiating with terrorists to free 1 soldier. He sees this as part of an overall strategic plan. This complex strategy has to do with the 'peace negotiations' with Abbas and engaging Egypt, US, Europe and others.

5. But by far the most overlooked 'Pro' for making the deal has got to be to help the IDF's moral. Every Israeli soldier needs to know that before they risk their lives defending their country, that their country has their backs. Should they get in trouble behind enemy lines, they must know that without a doubt, they will be rescued at all costs. Without strong moral, as one of Israel's most important resources, the IDF cannot operate successfully. And if that happens, many more lives will be lost.

I do agree with the premise of never negotiating with terrorists. Terrorists should be killed not negotiated with. But in this case I think Israel had no choice. That said, in my humble opinion, Israel's mistake was taking thousands of terrorists as prisoners in the first place.

Obama Is Dangerous!

For years I have been decrying the dangers of having Obama as the leader of the free world. I have been admonished for comparing his rise to power to Hitler. I have tried to highlight his hidden agenda. It was necessary to do so since the mainstream media not only refuse to criticize the man but instead hold him up on a pedestal at every opportunity. No doubt they will continue to do so as they will ignorantly praise him for attempting to restart peace talks in the Middle East.

Well now will those of you who either continue to love this man, make excuses for him or stand on the fence finally admit it? History has showed us this time and again. Right now in Canada (where I'm from) we are fortunate to have a principled Prime Minister in Stephen Harper. One of the few leaders who stands up for Israel. But this is temporary. One day Harper will be replaced. What are the odds that we will get someone who sides with the rest of the world - Against Israel? Had modern day Israel existed as a Jewish homeland prior to WWII, the holocaust would never have happened. Six million Jews would have emigrated to Israel. In fact Hitler would have preferred it. Once again they don't understand the mentality of the Arab on the street. The more Obama and Hilary open their mouth the more trouble they get the US into. Now is the time to shut up and learn what's really going on. Is it the Moslem Brotherhood (the worst of all radical Islamist groups) that's pushing the violence there? To the avg Egyptian, the US is a joke. For 30 years they back their dictator. Then when the people try to overthrow him, the US is suddenly on their side. Which side are they on?

The administration is once again dreaming of a new democratic Egyptian government, thinking that's what their people want. Wrong again. The Arab on the street wants to depose Mubarak. That's it for now. What will be tomorrow, who knows. But it surely won't be American style democracy. Especially his war on terror. You see most of the worlds most active, dangerous terrorists are radical Moslems. It's not that I don't like Moslems. I like all people equally. I'm just stating what should be an obvious fact. A fact that seems lost on Obama and his administration. In fact, most of the Jews in the US voted him in. Most of them now regret it. The pressure at the time to elect the first black president, someone who stood for 'change' , was immense. Even when his dubious background, his secret background as a Muslim, his numerous anti-Semitic friends with ties to radical Moslem organizations were slowly coming to view in some (very few) media (thank goodness for the internet), very few public leaders or media addressed them or questioned his integrity. If anyone did, they were either shot down or ignored.

Of all of the issues he faces, terrorism is by far the most important issue or should be.

A very obvious point here is what he's done with the long standing, trusting relationship between the US and Israel. He's managed to push his one Middle East ally away whilst befriending numerous Arab dictatorial regimes, many who outright sponsor the world's vilest terrorist organizations.

I've read many articles on this. The reasons given have been all over the map. Most very valid.

However I'm going to throw one more opinion into the soup. It's about human behaviour and it's fairly obvious once you think of it.

Obama's popularity has fallen due to his broken promises, lies and dangerously poor performance especially on the international front. Believe me, a lot more people wanted to elect a black president than KKK folks didn't. Americans are not idiots. Most do realize that Israel is an undeniable strategic friend to the US. It's the one constant in the world and especially within a very dangerous middle east. Typical in a relationship, the worst behaviour is spent on your partner. While you are able to hold your tongue to strangers who may in fact require a tongue lashing, you feel a lot more comfortable taking it out on your spouse or child.

Example: when a crazy driver cuts you off and you manage to catch up to him and give him the finger, you might be faced with a bullet in the head. On the other hand, going crazy on your partner at home (hopefully) might mean that you get the silent treatment for a day. Likewise the Obama administration knows that if it threatens Arab countries or the PA, they can rely on more 9/11's. Threatening Israel (their ally) on the other hand usally has no major, obvious negative consequences. Certainly there won't be any Israeli terrorist flying jets into US buildings.

It's time Israel spoke up. Stop trying to appease the US government for some far fetched 'peace' plan with people (PA) bent on destroying the tiny Jewish state.

Hope with Obama

Well folks, it's been some time since I updated my blog.

Since taking office, President Obama has said some good stuff. He's got some serious issues to deal with like the Economy for one. Since I'm not an economist, I really can't say much about what I think the right thing to do is. He and his advisors recommend spending lot's of $ on bailouts. I just hope that the corrupt CEO's don't take all that money and run.

Here in Canada and in particular in Ontario where a big chunk of our economy relates to the shaky auto industry, our Premier also wants to hand over lots of dough to the big US car makers.

Personally I recommend offering to remove sales taxes (here in Ontario how about removing the provincial sales tax and/or federal tax) when citizens wish to buy these cars. By giving these pathetic companies that still can't make a good car after all these years, more money to squander, they'll just make more cars that are going to sit on dealer lots. We're in a recession remember? People aren't going to magically start buying these cars, are they?

I know I wouldn't. But if I needed a new car and was able to save say 10% on sales taxes on a $30,000 GM car, then maybe I would. The best part is that we wouldn't simply be throwing money at them. The more cars they sell (and that is the point isn't it?), the more money they make, the less money we'll have to give them and the more people will be employed.

I'm tired of bailouts. All I know is that if any one of us small to medium size businesses finds itself in financial hardship, no one is going to bail us out. But when Ford loses money all they have to do is threaten to close a plant somewhere and the government rushes to the aid in order to prevent massive job losses. With all the money that we've given to these companies we could have instead let them close and use the bailout money to help feed the employees for years.

A big part of the problem has been UNIONS. Once upon a time they served a purpose. But that purpose has been hijacked by ruthless, money grubbing thugs who no longer serve the real needs of the employee but instead are self serving. The unions in the end actually harm legitimate, hard working employees of these large companies by pushing for unrealistic benefits whereby the cost to stay in business by the employers becomes increasingly high. Eventually they can't compete in the world markets and end up closing. As long as we let unions run the show, those companies will suffer.

I hope our world leaders like Obama realize that bailouts alone are not the answer. Can you imagine how much it will cost just to monitor how those companies that get bailout money, spend it? If he truly is for the little guy, he needs to push the unions out the door.

In Ontario and elsewhere in the world various unions are busy doing what I'm doing. Commenting on world issues. Instead they should focus on doing they're job. We had a 4 month strike at York University in Toronto. But what was the president of the union here doing (Sid Ryan)? He was busy condemning Israel for the war in Gaza. While students in Toronto were dying to get back to school, while professors and other staff were trying to go to work and feed their families, their Union president Sid was pushing to continue the strike (what does he care, he still gets paid) and organizing Israel Apartheid rally's.

Employees that work at organizations with unions need to get more involved with them and to insure that their union leadership is apolitical and focus on the job at hand. For that matter, maybe they should vote them out and like ING says: Save Your Money.

Obama - Our next world leader?

I always had my suspicions about this 'excellent speaker'. His personal history needed some filling in the blanks, badly. He was raised as a Muslim - maybe? What are his opinions and solutions to the issues that confront the US as the world's protector?

Well we know that he wants to take the states out of Iraq. So what? Every normal American wants it to end and get out of there ASAP. But exactly how and when is the issue. Furthermore to even attempt to state to the world that as of a certain future date, the states will walk away from Iraq would be one stupid move. Nothing like giving your enemies advance notice to help them plan their attacks.

His solution to deal with Islamo Terrorism is: "We must listen to their needs'.

Boy has he got that wrong!

For the rest of the issues he as usual stands on the fence.

But what really makes me sick, is his ongoing fiasco with his former mentor of 20 years, the not so honourable Reverend Wright.

Why are the media pun dents placating him so?

Here's a guy who went to church for 20 years, loved his pastor, considered him his mentor and equivalent to a close family member and even appointed him his spiritual advisor. Until very recently, the most negative comment he could muster for the reverend was that his comments were controversial.

My question:

Why did it take him over 20 years to finally realize that his mentor is really not that great a guy? After all, his mentor condemns America - Check out his 'God Damn America!' speech. The one where he claims that the US infected blacks with AIDS.

When initially pushed to comment on his pastor who was/is good friends with Louis Farrakhan (anti-white, anti-Semite, anti-US, anti-Israel, pro-radical Islam), his defense was that the Rev did many good things. His other laughable defense is that he never heard those speeches that contained inflammatory comments. Now he finally condemns him only because he was forced to.

Obama is either blatantly lying or he lacks judgement. I suspect it's a combination of both. In either case, it's bad news.

The one thing he does excel at, is being a politician.

If he does become the next US president, then unfortunately his buddy, Rev. Wright will be correct: 'God Damn America!'.

Should we boycott the Olympics in China?

That my friends is a personal question that we all must decide for ourselves.

If you feel strongly that China's human rights record stinks or their annexation of Tibet is unjust or you don't want to support a country who is Sudan's largest trading partner or you simply don't want to support a hard fisted communist regime AND that boycotting a huge sporting event held there will send the proper message to change their policies, by all means, do so!

If on the other hand you feel that by boycotting the Olympics in China, you will be destroying an amazing non-political, world sporting event and thereby punishing many athletes from all over the world who have dedicated their lives to this once in a lifetime event, by all means, do not!

I think the problem is with the current process. We have a corrupt Olympic system in place run by a bunch of either totally naive buffoons or on the take committee members who decide which country is going to 'get' the Olympics. I can just imagine the bribery and wining and dining that goes on.

Do you remember when Adolph Hitler's Germany was awarded the Olympics? The premise then was that the Olympics are non-political so it shouldn't matter what the politics are of the host country. Right? Wrong! By giving Germany the Olympics back then, we gave a face and voice to the Nazi's. We instantly legitimized Adolph and his followers.

I think I have the solution.

We need to create a new Olympics for democracies only!

That way we will eliminate a lot of the embarrassing, political goings on every time the Olympics are held. Let China, Russia and the rest of the strong arm countries have their own.

At this point we are all part of a faulty process. We must change the process in order to correct the problem. Boycotting the Olympics will definitely punish innocent athletes from all over the world.

The good news is that it will probably cost China billions of dollars to host the Olympics and they ain't gonna get all of that money back!

Between the recent Tibet fiasco, the cost of jet fuel - the price of air fare, the poor world economy especially in the states and the distance of China from the West and Europe (from where most tourists come from when they go to the event), I really think that the visitor tally will be extremely low.

That said, we still need to ask ourselves:

When are going to stop awarding bad behaviour?!

Should we talk peace with Iran?

I dunno, if a group of murderous thugs knock on your door to discuss how they are going to tear you apart, rape your wife and children and destroy your home, are you going to let them in?

Maybe you should invite them in, offer them tea and cookies and try to dissuade them from those horrific actions. Instead of spending more effort to investigate the huge number of terrorist acts committed by Muslims world wide and certainly within the US (remember 9/11?), the FBI is thinking: Hmm, maybe we should be more sensitive to their needs.

That's like finding a child predator and instead of investigating him maybe we should do some studies on what kind of kids he prefers to prey on. This is crazy stuff!

If 9 out of 10 terrorist acts are committed by one group of people (read Muslims) then certainly we should spend 9 tenths of our efforts to investigate this one group of people to be most effective. If you wish to call this racial profiling, go right ahead. It has been hijacked by radical Islamists, by crazed dictatorial regimes both on the far right and the far left, by countries with only power and money on their minds regardless of how it's attained.

The sad part in all of this, is that most of the world's few naive democracies still left, don't get it.

And if and when they do, it'll be too late. Our political correctness is killing us, literally.

We need to push our governments to pull out of the UN immediately. Let Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, Sudan, Libya, etc. remain and continue to do their 'important' work. At least we won't be funding them anymore. We've had enough state sponsored scandals continuing daily with no consequences. We've had enough corrupt UN delegations partying in New York or wherever they may be, at our expense.

The United Nations (an oxymoron if I've ever heard one) is not doing the world any good.
