Why are so many Idolizing Zelensky and Ukraine?

If my dear mother, a Holocaust survivor, was alive, she would have this to say about Ukraine: 'Loz em brennan' (let them burn).

To help understand her statement, you might recall one of the most terrible events in WWII, known as Babi Yar. It's a deep ravine in the main city, Kiev in Ukraine. In 1941 in the period of just 2 days, almost 34,000 Jews were murdered there! Think about that number. And it was all done by men shooting at innocent civilians. A very personal way to commit mass murder. That was nothing like carpet bombing a city from the air.  As far as we know, that extreme murder rate had never been achieved until then. Of course the Nazis organized the killing. But it was the Ukrainians who actually did the killing. You see, the Ukrainians had such a blood lust for killing Jews that even the Nazis had to stop them. The Germans were in love with organized killing and documenting every 'perfect' thing they did. So when the Ukrainians were running around trying to murder every Jew they saw, the Nazis intervened and instructed them on how to do it efficiently and more organized.

Since then the Germans have laws (serious laws) against joining any neo-Nazi party. They have also paid out millions of dollars to Holocaust survivors and their families. The Ukrainians have literally gotten away with murder.

Today, decades after the war, Ukraine has more neo-Nazi groups than any other country in the world! (Yet another world record) And they are not forced underground in any way. The largest of these, Azov, is unofficially part of their parliament. Many fools consider them to just be nationalistic. Although some members might be, most are thugs. Their flag is similar to a swastika and they are antisemitic to the core, just like their grandfathers were.

Azov flag

When Putin says he wants to de-nazify Ukraine, he's not lying. I have no doubt that we will soon be hearing of stories leaked out of Ukraine, blaming it's small Jewish population for the trouble they are in now. I already have heard some.

Ukraine is not a democracy and never has been. It is as corrupt as Russia or perhaps more so. Definitely more antisemitic. Since 2014, Ukraine has become the world's most popular money laundering state. Oligarchs run it mob style and chose the then actor Zelensky to be their presidential puppet. The WEF's Klaus Schwab bragged about helping elect him and his equivalent Canadian puppet Trudeau. Just about every rich and famous player has been to Ukraine. And came back with even more money. From Bill Gates to Joe Biden, from George Soros to the Clintons. They all know that Ukraine is open for business. Even the CIA opened deadly bioweapon laboratories there because they couldn't open them anywhere else!

I am sick and tired of  people (especially Jews) depicting Zelensky as a hero or worse, a Jewish hero. Zelensky is as Jewish as Bernie Sanders or George Soros.  Technically he was born Jewish but that's where it ends. He left his Judaism by the road side years ago.  He is no real friend to Israel and tolerates the neo-Nazis in his own government quite well. He does what his masters tell him to do and say. He has probably been paid off by Soros who is loving all of us Western nations spending billions to prop up this corrupt state and leader. Do you recall their capitulation to then VP Biden to fire their prosecutor who was looking at the fraud committed by the Burisma corporation who had Hunter Biden as a board member? They wanted the billions of US dollars from the Obama administration and would do anything for the money. So they did. Biden bragged about it on TV!  Here's a clip if you haven't seen it. Quite incredible: Joe Biden brags about firing Ukrainian prosecutor

To be sure, I'm no fan of Putin. He's a brutal dictator and I certainly wish that he hadn't invaded Ukraine. Many innocent people will die as a result, no doubt. But to see it from his view, Ukraine has a population of about 40 million people. About half are Russians! The other half come from various tribal factions like Ruthenians, etc. If you look at the history of Ukraine, it belonged to many different empires and states until recently. My father was brought up in a city called Lvov in Poland before WWII. Now it belongs to Ukraine under the name of Lviv. If my dad was alive he could tell us stories of how the people of the city would hunt Jewish boys like him down on the way back from school and beat them up. This was well before WWII. The neo-Nazi groups in Ukraine have been running roughshod on all Russian citizens and businesses there. I will include a video here where you can see it. These videos and my facts here are not typically found in the mainstream media (yet). But over time the truth does slowly leak out and you'll hear more about what I'm saying here. I urge you to watch this video, it will hopefully wake you up from the constant babble I hear 24/7 about how noble the Ukrainians are. Ukraine neo-Nazis.

Today on social media I see many people with a Ukrainian flag. I've read articles written by good writers (both Jews and Gentiles) who are piling on the backs of Ukraine and espousing how brave the people are and how wonderful Zelensky is. Why are we giving them this kind of false idolatry and PR?

I view this war like I did when Iran and Iraq were at war years ago. Two evil states killing each other. Mostly I feel sorry for my fellow Jews who remain in Ukraine. It's hard to say how many they are but I can guess about 100,000 poor Jews still live there. If you want to help the cause, you should donate to organizations that help them.  I'm proud of my Jewish homeland, Israel who is already planning on sending planes to bring them to Israel.

If we learn anything from this war it's that we (Jews and Israel) cannot rely on anyone else to guarantee our safety.

Calling Putin names won't help.

Of course this entire war could have been prevented if President Trump was still the US leader. He had the US on a course of energy independence and strength. The US, Canada and even Israel could have supplied all the oil, gas and coal that Europe needed. But thanks to the cognitive mess we call Joe Biden, he undid all that and gave a pass to the Russian pipeline to fuel Germany and the rest of Europe. Israel discovered huge reserves of oil and gas underground and under its territorial waters in the Mediterranean years ago. The plan was to build a pipeline to ship it to Crete & Greece and then on to Europe. The Trump administration sponsored the project. But the Biden administration cancelled it. Strong sanctions now will hurt Russia and all of us as well.

Israel needs to be very careful as to how it deals with this war. It has a relatively good relationship with Russia at the moment and shouldn't assume that it can jump on the sanction bandwagon with many other countries without risking some serious repercussions in Syria and elsewhere.

To sum up: I stand for my Jewish people in Ukraine and for all the good Christians there as well. I pray for their well being and I have donated money for them. I wrote this article because another narrative needs to be heard. You might not want to hear it, yet here it is. I might lose some friends over this but the situation isn't black and white. Most geopolitical events are complex. I don't consider myself an expert. I am not. But like most things in the news, a narrative is being developed by people we should not trust but people are caught up in that 24/7 news cycle and are quick to hop on the mainstream media's bandwagon.  I for one, will not lose too much sleep if Ukraine disappears. I'll leave it up to Him to decide how things play out there. I do believe in karma....

How ever one looks at the situation, it's certainly not worth risking a world war over, G-d forbid! Recall the events leading up to WWI. A Serb assassinated the Austro-Hungarian archduke. Because of various treaties signed by various world powers at the time (Britain, France, Germany and Russia) this small incident brought on the war! A brutal war that no one wanted.

We are at a crossroads here too. We must be very careful what we wish for. Urging our countries to send troops and planes over there can easily spark something no one wants (perhaps except the WEF and people like George Soros). I am not an isolationist by any means. But we do have other means at our disposal to de-escalate this. Opening our energy sectors in the US, Israel and even my own country, Canada, to serve Europe and thereby cut out Russia is probably the best and most effective way. Of course electing strong principled leaders that are not corrupt is an absolute requirement as well!

  2. I agree with the sentiments expressed here., especially that some Ukrainians are getting their just deserts. Unfortunately criminals as always are once again getting away with murder, the war is just making them richer. Obviously Russia has much to gain, otherwise they would not have gone to war. Perhaps Putin is cleaning up some corruption, that you point out.

  3. Bh. What you write is obviously historically accurate.
The Ukrainians were probably worse then the poles and Dutch*.
The issue is the present. The "now". While I personally know of two instances on Friday (25/2), at least one of which can only be explained as antisemitism. So there must be other haters,
there were many more who are attributing their survival to Jewish prayers and Bible life miracles that jews get. The priests are asking the jews to supply last year's Matza!
(that food used in old blood labels ala mendel beilis... talk of turn round)

Putin did and does lots of good but now we need to protect the lives of the jews who could not get Passports to flee, and the American (?chabad) rabbis who are (voluntarily!) STILL in kharkiv(!) and other towns to help them.

    * the Dutch who collaborated and then advertised the few who assisted jews like a pig who advertises it's split hooves.

  4. It's complicated.

Yes, there are thousands of innocent people being hounded out of their homes by Putin’s aggression, but when I think of the thousands of Jews fleeing (during the war) I know there was no one waiting for them with food and blankets and temporary accommodation at the border.

Jews were hounded out of their homes by Ukrainian Nazis and as far as I know the Ukrainians have never admitted to the atrocities committed.

Yes it is hard to feel compassion for them, even though I know this is a new generation, but they owe it to the memory of dead to apologize, explain and show some regret (as the German people have done).

  5. Thanks for your comments all of you! Anonymous, I loved your pig analogy!

I first wrote a shorter blog that was missing some good detail and explanation and submitted it to the Times Of Israel. But it seemed like they weren't going to publish it because of course I went against the mainstream narrative. Today they published it and unlike your comments here, they are nasty and attacked me at every opportunity. You can check it out here:

    1. Leon, I just went to the blog link you mentioned, and it has been pulled down. Knowing the Times Of Israel as pretty much an MSM mouthpiece, I'm not that surprised.

As an Australian Catholic author of paternal Polish descent, much of what you say in this article, I do agree with -- minus the part about Ukraine disappearing. If that means being gobbled up by Russia, then that is one step on the way to Putin's dream of re-establishing the Soviet Union.

Indeed, Putin himself said that the collapse of the Soviet Union was the greatest geo-political disaster ever, and I think Putin is still a communist and not really that devout a Christian as so many conservative Christians in the west have been duped into thinking.

See for example 9 mins and 30 secs into https://www.theepochtimes.com/how-russia-is-using-conservatives-to-spread-its-propaganda_4372003.html. (You can set up an Epoch TV free trial account to watch.) This is a video by the Kiwi anti-communist analyst Trevor Loudon, and I agree with most of what he says --- except the end where he portrays Zelensky as an unquestionable hero.

In my mind, Putin and Zelensky are opposing sides of the globalist coin. The objective is for this war to create the pretext for implementing the WEF's hideous Great Reset. I have written in detail about this in an email to Cliff KIncaid that I posted on my site at https://vincebarwinski.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/message_to_cliff_kincaid_03rd_april_2022.pdf. If you wish to read it, it will seem unabashedly pro-Zelensky at first, but by the fourth paragraph, that will change. I have supplied endnote sources.

      Shalom.

PS: I have watched the 10 minute 2018 BBC YouTube video on Azov. Pretty chilling to say the least.

  6. I agree with most of your article. The mainstream media is the biggest enemy of mankind and that is why so many idiots are supporting what would be their own demise in the end.

Christians are also being persecuted in Ukraine. We might call them nazis but khazarian mafia demonic hordes is closer to the reality. These are those that call themselves jews but are not and they have used the jews to hide behind for generations. Israel also has a problem with the same crew as do many countries around the world. When it comes out what has been going on underground people will lose their minds.

The criminal agression in Ukraine was started by the west in 2014 and it is the west that have backed this regime who has killed at least 13,000 russian speaking people in the past 8 years. My prediction is there will be MANY atrocities that will come to light and it won't be by the russians.

  7. People should think independently. Here is a good rule: If the mainstream media and governments are pushing a narrative, chances are that you should not follow it. The narrative being pushed 24/7 by the news on TV, our government (all parties), social media, and so many others is just this one narrative: Russia bad, Ukraine good and Zelensky is a hero. Let's stop at nothing to defeat Russia even if it means WWIII.

U might recall 2 years ago when the pandemic his us. The crazy narrative then was: don't go out side because the covid virus is waiting to kill you! People were sanitizing their groceries by leaving them in garage for a period of hours prior to bringing them hope. That's exactly what's happening now with Ukraine. We should be keeping our eyes on China and the WEF and it's real affect on our governments who in turn is trying to socialize us to communism (dictatorship).

    1. Have you been to Ukraine lately? I was there less than 3 years ago and met the Rabbi in the Lviv Shul and attended a Purim service. We spoke to the Rabbi and members of the community who told us they feel safe, comfortable and unthreatened in Ukraine. For Jews, Ukraine is safer than Western Europe & North America, so where are you getting your facts from?

  10. Sheri, absolutely! The puppet masters are using this as a distraction big time. Iran is building its nuclear arsenal at a feverish pace now that virtually no one is watching them. All eyes on Ukraine and Russia! The horrific video clips that we will be watching 24/7 on TV will help them with this task. We are in serious trouble. That's why I wrote this post. To help alert us to the dangers of losing our focus on the WEF, and the rest of the super dangerous world actors.

  12. Zelkensky is to Ukraine what Chiang Kai-shek was to the triads in Nationalist China back in the day. I am amazed at the false videos overwhelming the media and teh complete lack of validation and verification.

It appears to me this is a classic wag the dog operation. I suspect that somewhere not too far down what you are seeing is a financial rape of Russia by the central bankers because Putin won't play nice with them. They did it to the czar before him.

Why Putin took on the whole country when he could have easily had Don Bass is a mystery to me. I know wheat, bread basket, oil and gas etc but still it makes no sense. It did not work in Afghanistan and it will be equally costly for Russia here. It will reduce Russia to the equivalent of the old Austrian Hungarian Empire with Red China being Imperial Germany. They are the big winners. A weakened Russia will no longer compete against their Silk Road. A world run by Red China is a world in a new Dark Age.

  14. The Dutch get bashed for collaborating beyond what they are guilty of.

The Nazis cleverly formed a secret police force in Holland known as the SD. Most of it's ranks were from prison convicts, street hoodlums, drug dealers, professional gamblers, etc. You get the picture. They were not exactly the most upstanding citizens & would probably sell their own mothers for a dime. The were collaborating for profit, stealing possessions of the mostly wealthy victims they betrayed.

As soon as Canadian Army liberators were at the doorstep, the SD were lynched in the streets by common citizens. Even Dutch girls who dated Germans were ostracized & had their hair shaved off in public. The average Dutch citizen was not exactly pro-Nazi before liberation. Nazis had orders to shoot anyone trying to push them in dykes which was a frequent occurence. Even many children were shot or jailed for this.

During the occupation, many Jews including rabbis were welcome in the underground which the same cannot be said about many locations in Eastern Europe. And Dutch nuns saved many Jewish children without trying to steal them from the Jewish people.

  15. This post contains lots of misinformation and the comments are quite awful, honestly. Hateful and insensitive. Let's agree with the insane actions of ruthless dictator, because some Ukrainians did terrible things to Jews in the past, right?

Western media might be biased towards Ukraine now, but Russian media openly lie and eliminate anyone who dares to say differently. Putin created propaganda about bioweapon labs and about the need to "de-nazify" Ukraine for his own citizens, and it's quite shocking that educated people otuside the Russia also fall for it. It does not take that long to verify the claims that author repeats also in this post.

Ukraine had troubling history, and it certainly still has many problems. But it is trying to be democratic and free from the corruption and influence of the oligarchs and Russia in general. That's exactly why there is this war. Accusing democratically chosen Zelensky of being a puppet while Putin's main goal is to replace him with a real, undemocratic puppet... Really?
I won't comment on conspiracy theories/hypotheses about USA that are presented here because I'm not familiar with American politics. But considering the rest of this post, I would be quite sceptic about them being true.

Zelensky is called a hero because he stayed in a city that is being attacked and he's doing his best to lead his nation in times of war. He has also two groups blatantly sent by Putin to kill him (one group is led by a neo-nazi, btw) but he doesn't show much fear. It's his actions that earned him the respect of the people all around the world, regardless of how good or badly he ruled earlier and regardless of what his religion is. Ukrainians like him, he represents the hope they need, and I don't think it's unjust to call him a hero right now.
Ukraine is praised because they picked up the fight to show what they really want. And they don't want to be part of Russia, which is clearly the aggressor here. This situation is as close to black and white as it can get. So I don't think calling them heroic is really that unjust either.

Author also seems to be a bit paranoid? egoistic?, inserting the Jews into the narrative that isn't about Jews at all. But since it's a Jewish blog, I can kind of understand that.

All in all, I appreciate that author wanted to "dig deeper" and share the information that is usually not covered by media. But he did a really poor job here, in my opinion.

    1. Thank you for clarifying the issues brought up in that article... The are too many half truths, narrow American political biases and ugly, spiteful accusations in it... If every country in Europe and the Middle East that has been guilty of antisemitism in the past were to be destroyed, as retribution from God, most of them would be gone! The resurgence of anti-semitism even in modern, western countries, is mainly because of conspiracy theories flooding the internet - and some of them are right in this article! The issue of the Nazi groups in Ukraine is serious - but perhaps they were being tolerated because they are primarily anti-Communist/anti-Russian and therefore tolerated because they help protect Ukraine's Eastern border? Zelensky himself has brought in laws making anti-semitism illegal and wants to move the Ukrainian embassy to Jerusalem - so no one should accuse him of being anti-Jewish! But of course, those factors are never mentioned by his far-Right, pro-Trump opposition.

Again I'll repeat this fact one last time just for you: Putin is a vile thug. Zelensky is a puppet, no different from my PM Trudeau or Biden or many other Western leaders. He made a deal with the devil when he was chosen as their president by the oligarchs and WEF who run Ukraine. Besides Ukraine's sadistic antisemitic history they are loaded with neo Nazis today. Did you watch the video I supplied? They have free reign over many parts of Ukraine and beat up and kill ethnic Russians regularly but that is not in the news. If you saw their brutality in videos played 24/7 perhaps you'd have a different opinion. BUt you like most are watching the mainstream news and buy it all. Personally I don't care for the Russian thugs either. That's why I said we should let them kill each other and weaken each other's military. Our job is to supply humanitarian aid to innocent civilians. Period.

It is important to note that in the last resolution of 2-021 "Resolution on Jerusalem" refers to the temple mount solely by its Muslim name "Haram al Shariff".
in denouncing Israel for the violence in Jerusalem, the Ukraine "our great friend" decided to "abstain".

I suggest that my country, Israel, choose to abstain from any military involvement in the Ukraine/Russia conflagration.

As for the Jews, especially the Israelis caught up in the war, I wish them good luck, but they should have come back to Israel earlier.

Now Israelis are risking their lives and paying dearly to help these people.

  21. Barry R,

I never said that Jews are being threatened there more than other places in Europe but they aren't safe there and that's for sure. Are they safe now? Will they be safe in a year? I said that Ukraine's current government formally includes neo Nazis. That's a fact! The Jews in Lviv that you met keep their heads down. They go to shul, go home but are not celebrating in the streets.
Sooner or later they will pay the price. It also depends where you live in Ukraine.

My friend's Jewish cousins just snuck out of Ukraine today. THe ladies did. THe men didn't. When Ukraine is finally beaten down by the Russians, I can bet that the neo Nazis in Ukraine will blame their tsouris on the Jews. I've already heard such stories. THen it definitely won't be safe.

The Jews who hosted you there know better than to complain. They will not advertise the ongoing issues with antisemitism that they must put up with. They have no choice but to continue to live there so unlike you (a tourist) they have to keep their mouths shut.

Lastly, the oligarchs (some are Jews like Zelensky) and the other puppet masters who control Ukraine are not stupid. They know that the Jews are a well connected people with undue influence for our small numbers. So they tone down their antisemitism now until they get a full and complete grip on the government. The last thing they need is a photo of a Ukranian neo nazi beating up a Jew, that is shared on socila media. So instead they beat up other minorities that have little influence like Roma and LBGTQ communities.

  22. While the impact of any military actions against Russia may have a chain effect that is uncertain and complicated, it is relatively clear that Russia is the country in the wrong here. Your post, while including the obligatory sentence that "you are no fan of Putin... and certainly wish that he hadn't invaded Ukraine" then essentially offers an excuse for why we can't really blame him for doing so. After all, as you say, Zelensky is controlled by Soros and is a bad guy, half of Ukraine are Russians (I thought they were Ukrainian...) and Ukraine has some neo-nazi elements. You then end by saying that "you won't lose much sleep if Ukraine disappears", which is a particular nauseating thing to say. Putin is indiscriminately shelling apartment buildings. Missiles are landing on playgrounds. Million of people are being forced to flee their homes as refugees. And amidst all this human suffering, your reaction is to essentially say "I can't really find it in myself to care?" Do you know what happens if Ukraine disappears (which it probably will in a couple of weeks, except in the form of a Russian client state)? It means that tens of thousand will be dead and millions evicted from their home. We can have intelligent conversations about NATO and the US de-escalating the situation and not meeting Putin's belligerence head on (I think we should strongly be encouraging a de-escalation and should in no circumstances impose a no fly zone or any of the other terrible ideas the war hawks have). We can discuss whether or not it is really in Ukraine's interest to dig in so deeply to fight off the Russian army (I don't think it is and think that Zelensky is doing a disservice to his people). We can point out that there is a lot of propaganda coming out of Ukraine and that if people are not skeptical of the reports coming out they don't know how this all works (there is and its nauseating to see people fall for it hook line and sinker). You may be surprised to know that I agree with you on those points. And I despise hero worship in all forms, whether it be Zelensky, Trump, or any other human being (there is only one entity to worship and "he" is not of flesh and blood). But to write a post in the callous manner that you did about a country being invaded by a foreign military force and essentially justifying Russia's actions is a bad take and reeks of zigging when other are zagging for the sport of it.

  23. I am with your grandmother, "Karma is a B...h" I'll be damned if I am going to feel bad about what is happening to the poor Ukranians, considering all the atrocities against the jews they committed during WW2.
Historically they've proven to be far worst than the Nazis. How can we forget or forgive that?

Nor will I send any money in support of the Ukrainians, "in the guise of supporting the Jews who are still there" On the other hand if there is an jewish organization in Israel concentrating on getting the jews out of the Ukraine and into Israel, I will gladly contribute to that goal.

It should also be clear that I certainly do not support the actions taken by Vladimir Putin, I believe that he is a dangerous man, made even more dangerous by the fact that he is the leader of a nuclear armed nation and in my opinion, "if push came to shove" he would not hesitate in using them.

So in my humble opinion, I look at what's going on in Ukraine the same way I look at the war between Iran and Iraq, and I say "Karma is a Bitch" I know I said it before, but it's worth repeating.

  24. Maybe I sound like mainstream opinion, but is mainstream opinion always wrong to you, even if they say the right thing? And yes, I think that spreading misinformation should be cancelled. If game news suddenly started to spread misinformation about games, I would like them to be cancelled too. I have no problem with articles or posts that touch unpopular subjects - I have a problem if they do it in a mendacious, insensitive way. I don't really watch news, or use much Facebook or Twitter. Maybe my opinion is like that because of common sense and basic human decency? Don't assume that everyone who is disagreeing with you is a brainless zombie glued to TV. And don't assume that even if he is a zombie, he is always wrong just because of it.

Historical massacres, gloryfiyng Stepan Bandera or existence of Azov battalion aren't a secret. But the whole neo-nazi issue is greatly exaggerated by Putin, and it's so obvious that it hurts. And you seem to believe that those exaggerated lies, created only to "justify" his aggression, are true. That is the problem. Nationalist parties in Ukraine only got like 2% of votes. Russia has more neo-nazi activity than Ukraine. So what about you read more about this whole subject instead of just believing the first "hidden news" that confirmed your views?

When I said that Western media are biased, I meant that they for example rather show only Russian losses while ommiting how much equipment Ukraine lost; not that they are biased because they don't repeat Putin's lies. People are also idolizing Zelensky and Ukraine a bit too much, treating them like holy paladins, forgetting that he is just a normal president of a normal country. It's not exactly sane either.
Now, even if assuming that Zelensky is a puppet - so what is better for Ukraine and rest of the world, "Western" puppet like Zelensky or Russian puppet like Lukashenko in Belarus? I think people from Ukraine and Belarus are rather clear about that.

Also, you really seem to have a wrong idea about the Jews in Ukraine or in Europe in general. I would suggest to calm down and think logically, not panic and fall into paranoia that everyone only waits for a chance to murder you. Jewish people live there the same way you live in Canada, they aren't burned at stakes and they won't be in the near future. They are in danger in Ukraine now because every person who lives there is in danger - their religion or citizenship doesn't matter. In one of the previous comments, person says what his experience with Jews in Ukraine looked like - and you reject his opinion, basically saying that he is wrong, twisting his facts to make them fit into your narrative. So, it seems that you really care more about your own narrative than about truth.

Holding grudges only leads to more suffering and injustice. Reading your post and some of the comments here, I got an impression that only Jewish lives matter to you, everyone else is a subhuman whose life isn't as important. If they die, they die, whatever; moreover - they fully deserved it because their ancestors commited crimes and very small percentage have extremist views. Additionally, Jews who don't live in Israel also can kind of die because it's their own fault, they should have returned earlier, right? Volhynian Slaughter is still a sensitive topic between Poles and Ukrainians - should Poland now spit in the face of thousands of refugees? Turn them away so they can "die because they deserve it"? Do you all really consider yourself a good human after thinking like that and writing such things?
Sometimes people desperately try to find a fault in the victim to deal with their own emotions and powerlessness while witnessing the injustice. But I don't know if it's the case here, or if you are just a group of obsessed, evil and gullible people. Sorry to be so harsh, but maybe it needs to be said.

  25. Anna,

Well said and thank you. I am an orthodox, (some would say ultra-orthodox) Jew. While terrible things happened during WW2, many of the comments made by Leon are completely unacceptable.

I have no idea who Leon is but his remarks are in very bad taste, with a clear leaning towards Donald Trump. Leon's political leanings are entirely his business but his statements seem to be based upon opinions that are at best too emotionally driven or at worst, aligned with conspiracy theories (such as attacking Bill Gates and George Soros), which themselves are often freely distributed by far-right extremists who hate Jews.

Furthermore, I would like to ask Leon two questions:

    1) What qualifies you to make such judgemental remarks about President Zelensky, George Soros or Bernie Sanders being born Jewish but that “technically….. that's where it ends”?
    2) Presumably you are a fully observant Jew? Either way, the choice is yours but regardless of your own level, why do you seemingly feel it is for you to determine whether another Jew - based upon their level of practice or lack thereof – is or is not still Jewish?

A Jew is a Jew always. No matter what they do in their lives, they will always have a Jewish soul and the potential to come back to their Judaism and shine a bright and positive light both for our own people and the rest of the world.

One final thought Leon. Freedom of speech is something we should all be entitled to but Jews know better than most where that can lead. You have written such harsh words against an entire nation. Granted you resent the unforgivable sins of their ancestors but the innocent people in Ukraine were not the perpertrators. Most were not even born. Granted there is anti-semitism but that can be found in most countries, including America and Canada. This is a modern day conflict which - despite Putin's claims - is not about de-nazification. Such armchair polemics as yours can only stir up more hate and perhaps it would be better not to do such things in the future.

Wishing you a very pleasant week and hopefully a positive response.

  28. This article and its added comments may trigger the bigger question:
How do todays elections in so-called democracies seem to end up with either ‚weak‘ or pre-determine figure heads directed by the growing elite, and the ‚we the people‘s votes are overwritten?

  30. What I just don't get why Jews don't get that the Land (I didn't say state!) of Israel is the only true, homeland of the Jewish People, not the Ukraine, not Russia, not the U. S., nor Canada. Sure I know there are some with incredible limitations on them, which prevent them from relocating. But waiting for their children's next milestone? They'll never reach enough of those...

Why on earth are Jews fighting for either Russia or the Ukraine, other than simply defending their lives, of course?

Why are North Americans stuck there?

Two thousand years in exile can do that to us, to all of us.

I pray that all Jews, regardless of religious or political affiliation, will be able to escape their own personal exiles. The lands of refuge of the non-Jews were always supposed to be temporary, just like Egypt was. Look what happened to all those who didn't want to leave Egypt. That didn't go well.

  31. This post is pure rubbish, filled with historical errors. Worst of all, it is hate speech that calls for all Ukrainians to be "burned", although your Yiddish is almost as bad as your knowledge of history and current facts. Loz em brenan (sic) means let HIM burn. What you write about Babi Yar is completely incorrect. As for Ukraine having all these Nazis, the USA has infinitely more and no Ukrainian President has ever called Nazis "very fine people" as your idol Trump did. And yourself engage in anti-Semitic rhetoric by evoking George Soros, as do all far right neo-Nazi groups. Shame on you, you boorishly uneducated racist. Ukraine is, in fact, the most Philosemitic nation in all of Europe, and I would say, the world. Get your facts straight before calling on innocent people to be burned ! The bare facts, based on the most recent Pew Research Institute Poll on Europeans' attitudes to Jews, is that 95% of Ukrainians welcome Jews as neighbors and family members, the highest percentage in the world, including Canada and the USA. You are supporting war crimes bordering on genocide. And, wait, because you will be held accountable. Rabbi Dr. Allan Nadler

  32. Calling for innocent people to be murdered, e.g. burned, based on their national or ethnic origins, is a hate crime in Canada. "Sog ganav li'tliyah" as Chazal taught.

  35. Donald Trump? You mean that Putin minion who accepted the dictator's version of events over that of the US Intelligence community -- FBI,CIA and NSA in unison -- who had the gall to praise Putin even after the hostilities ha begun and who had done his very best to dismantle NATO?

  37. I'm glad to see so many posters criticizing Kushner's post. He is factually wrong about the whole Biden/Ukranian prosecutor issue and thus reveals himself as a blind Trumpster with no further credibility. Enabling the Putin/Trump camp is the exact opposite of what our nation and the world need right now.

  38. Vince, thanks for your comment! I certainly don't believe every word that comes out of Putin's mouth but since he's been in charge, Russia has been leading the world in building churches! There is no doubt in my mind that he takes his religion somewhat seriously as far as a dictator can go of course. He knows exactly how corrupt Ukraine is and the West has become. With people who can't even identify what gender they are. So he wants to distance himself and his country from us. Who can blame him. He certainly knows how corrupt the Biden administration is and in particular his dealings with Ukraine so he will never take Biden seriously. Even American's don't.
Let's looks at this the other way. Let's envision that Ukraine wins the war (not going to ever happen, thank G-d). What do you suppose will happen? I can guess that Nazis from all over the world will get a huge boost! Ukraine will become then next Nazi Germany. And we helped arm them to the teeth. They would take over Russia's nuclear arsenal! Nazis with nukes is clearly not what we want. Funny how not a single major network reports on the neo Nazis in Ukraine! It seems to be the world's best kept secret. Glad u watched the BBC's clip on that, that I embedded in my article. The world needs to watch it asap before it also gets taken down.

I'm happy that Russia just lost its lead destroyer at least temporarily. Like I said, we should view this as we did the Iran Iraq war. 2 evil regimes fighting each other and weakening each other. Of course Ukraine has no chance of winning or even defending itself. Urging innocent civilians and mercenaries from other countries to fight for Ukraine is like urging on a small kid to take on a bully twice his size. The kid will just get beat up and gain nothing from it. It's simply cruel to do so.
