Kill Him

I hope you noticed that I didn't end the title of my post 'Kill Him' with an exclamation mark. I want to leave any emotions out of this discussion.

If you haven't as yet guessed who I want to kill, why it's the Arab terrorist, Arafat Irfaiya, who was recently arrested for having raped, mutilated and murdered a sweet, young, Israeli girl of 19 years of age. If you don't live in Israel (I don't), you might not have heard about this as it has yet to be reported by the mainstream media. So disgusting. But here in Canada when a young Muslim girl made up a story about her hijab being cut off by a man, the story went viral within hours, even our own PM cried about Islamophobia within an hour of the hoax.

Ori Ansbacher was Jewish as you might expect (however you could just as easily been wrong because many sweet young, Arabic girls are also raped, mutilated and murdered as a result of their legal practise of Honour Killing) in fact she was a religious Jew. Her father was a rabbi and I doubt that she ever intentionally killed an ant in her entire short life.

It's funny that just as I'm writing this, I am getting emotional. I can see that this will be a battle for me. I must keep my emotions out of this.

I best get on with my point or I'll lose it, lose you and lose the battle.

THE point is that once he's found guilty (which he probably is - 99.999% since he not only confessed to the crime, he reenacted it out to the police, there is DNA evidence and video camera evidence) then his punishment should be death. I don't care how they do it. But they absolutely must kill him. Israel has the death penalty. They've rarely used it. I do recall watching the Eichmann trial on TV when I was just a kid. Even then I knew what was going on. A very evil man was going to die as fair punishment for what he did. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who watched it. Have we all been affected by it to the point that we either all want to kill people who we think deserve it or perhaps we will refuse to ever kill another human being because of it? Obviously neither. Eichmann was put on trial, found guilty by an abundance of evidence and killed because of the horrific things he did. We don't kill everyone who killed someone, just the extremely horrific cases. I understood this straightforward concept as a child and I certainly understand it now. Please note that I'm not making a case for capital punishment here. That is an entirely different discussion. I happen to believe in it but that is besides the point. As I mentioned, Israel believes in capital punishment. It's on their books.

Beyond his smirk he is daring at you to look at him in the eyes. Looking at evil is not easy. One can see the scratch marks on his face where poor Ori was trying to defend herself from this killer.

Back to the point. Israel has a moral obligation to do this. When you are staring at evil in the face and you and everyone else bloody knows it, you must do your best to extinguish it forever. That last part after the 'and' is very important.  I'm not asking you to take the law in your own hands, quite the opposite.  I'm demanding that you follow the law. Your law.

He can't possibly be found insane because every Arab who has been brainwashed as a child to hate and murder Jews can be considered insane. After the crime they are never remorseful. They are proud of their actions. Their family who protects them almost always decry their innocence. 

In Israel's case she has many more valid reasons to do it. The Arabs that go by the name of Palestinians and their other tribesmen and terrorist organizations like the PLO, PA, PFLP, Hamas, Hezbollah, and too many countries to mention are in some cult like hatred (in general and in the extreme regarding Jews). A day doesn't go by when an Israeli is attacked or worse.

It's way past time to send them a profound message that we will no longer accept the status quo. Murdering, raping and mutilating young, defenceless Jewish girls will no longer be tolerated. Nor will stabbing Jewish babies to death or chopping off heads. Neither must we simply ignore the millions of dollars of rewards that are given by the Arab leaders (aka our 'peace partners') to these murderers and their families.

I may not be a religious Jew in practise but I believe in G-d. And so I fear that if we do not put this remnant of Amalek down forever we will pay a terrible price.

My Response to Caroline Glick's Israel and Anne Frank's Jewishness

If you haven't read Caroline's brilliant post yet I urge you to do so now right here.
I loved it and adore her courage for writing it. I responded as follows:



Dear Caroline,

I have been waiting for some time for you to write an article like this. As per usual, I agree with every word. More importantly you have exposed Israel’s omnipotent Supreme Court as (my words only) a bunch of goyim. 
It’s obvious that the majority of them (if not all) are ashamed of their Jewishness and from their policy and decisions one can often come to the shameful observation that they often despise their religious Israeli Jews even more than their mortal enemies, radical Islamists. 

I myself am a secular Jew (in practice) who lives in Toronto Canada. But I am an anomaly because I support the Haredim. Those that contribute to Jewish society by supporting themselves and continue to keep Judaism alive. 
How does one keep Judaism alive? Buy studying the Torah of course. As you know (I’m sure) Haredim consider the study of Torah the best defence of the Jewish people. In other words it’s no less important and maybe more so, to have young Jewish men fervently study in Yeshivot than it is to send them to the army. 

I’m not a fool. I can certainly understand the secular Jew’s point of view. My own left-leaning cousins in Tel Aviv hate the Haredim much like Israel’s supreme court. Why should their children be sent to the IDF and maybe come home without an arm, leg or worse while the Haredim’s sons get to party it up in the safety of a yeshiva?

It’s certainly a sensitive point and one almost insolvable. Because in order to make a point to the other side, the other side has to see things your way. In other words for the Haredim’s words to have meaning to the secular Jews they must be Haredim. For the secular Jews (more accurately non-Haredim), for their words to have meaning to the Haredim, the Haredim must not be Haredim.

But one can make some cogent arguments about this in defence of the Haredim. And further the situation on the ground is not black and white. Jews as a whole can be divided into possibly thousands of groups. Some of us are Jews in name only. We might identify as Jews but follow no traditional, cultural or religious practices whatsoever. The next level might be Jews who love eating lux, cream cheese and bagels and thusly consider themselves Jewish. Out of the religious sector there are likewise many distinct groups and some not so distinct.

That’s why when some of my friends are verbally attacking religious Jews I must insist that they define exactly which group they are referring to. On one side are the Neturei Karta who look in dress exactly like any Hassid you might see (who are themselves composed of many sects). This group is violently anti-Israel to the point of siding with Iran’s muslim leaders. On the other side might be my sister’s sizeable group. They are not Hassids so their dress and religious behaviour is similar to modern orthodox Jews. They happen to be Litvash, named after the Jews of Lithuania and the rav who was their spiritual leader there.The Mizrachi Jews who may include some modern orthodox Jews often study at yeshivot but might also include a stint with the IDF. 

Jews like my sisters group and other Haredim have learned after hundred of years that if you give up on the Torah, the world will crumble. In fact they (and other Jews who have studied the Talmud-explanation of the written Torah) have learned right from Genesis that the world exists for the Torah. The Torah must be studied 24/7. In fact that’s why they believe G-d made the earth spin on it’s axis as it revolves around the sun, and results in time zones around the world where at the same point in time, one section is day while another is night. One can’t study Torah when asleep.

To get to the point, the gadolim (the rabbinic leaders who all members of one sect of the religious Jews follow) insist that the secular Jews and others (muslims who brazenly seek Israel's destruction) who make up the government of Israel can’t be trusted. Based on some if not many government leaders' behaviour (corruption) and policy (give back holy Jewish land to our enemies) who can argue with them? 

In times of absolute necessity is it required for yeshiva students to sign up for the IDF? If the gadolim decide that yes, we have no choice and must do so, then their Haredi group would absolutely sign up. The fact is that more and more Haredim are signing up in recent years. It would help if the military leadership provided religious soldiers all that they require to keep the mitzvot (Jewish commandments & customs) while serving.

This situation seems to be improving albeit slowly. If a young Haredi man is observed to be screwing around and not taking his Torah study seriously, then their Rav (rabbi) might order him to join the IDF. If you’re not going to save us by studying Torah then you might as well try to save us by joining the IDF where you might receive the discipline you need. 

The truth is that studying in a yeshiva is not a party. Young Jewish boys are often sent away from home to yeshivas (schools for serious Jewish study) in other cities. They are forced to bunk with other boys they don’t know. They miss their parents and siblings. Studying is long and hard and is taken very seriously and in many cases done in a dank basement of an old decrepit building. In other worlds, it’s not a party. I doubt that many secular Jews could or would do it. 

The other important fact to consider is that today the IDF is saturated with too many soldiers. Yes you read that correctly. Even the IDF will admit it. Throwing more soldiers into battle is not necessarily the key to win. In fact it might simply cause more casualties and do the opposite. Today's battles are more and more frequently done via high tech drones, cyber war fare and intelligence gathering. Every country’s military’s leaders will admit that the makeup of their military has changed significantly over the last 20 years and is still morphing at lightning speed. The days of large armies marching towards their enemies are long gone. 

Looking at Israel’s situation I see it as one more amazing miracle. Despite the religious sector being in the minority of the population, they continue to be part of government coalitions and as such hold some power. While some (maybe even many) consider that a bad thing, I do not. The miracle is that the country continues to not only exist but to succeed in all areas. Socially, culturally, scientifically and religiously. 

My defence to those who hate the Haredim is simply this: If you value Judaism at all, then you must thank the Haredim for keeping Judaism alive. Haredim have the least number of Jews who leave the religion. In all other non-religious sects, Jews often leave due to intermarriage and for often losing any connection to Judaism. Also, unlike Haredim and other religious Jews who have a very high birth rate, secular Jews have a low birth rate. After a couple of generations if we were all secular, the Jewish religion as we know it (not just bagel eating Jews) would disappear into thin air. 

My lecture to Haredim and others is that we must not attack or hate others that are not like them. Including Gentiles (goyim). Case in point, it was mostly the Christian farm boys and a myriad of other men and women from all denominations and places, some plumbers, salespeople, doctors, rich and poor who helped rescue us from the ovens in the Holocaust. Many of those people made the ultimate sacrifice to help save the free world including religious Jews from thousands of shtetels (small Jewish villages) throughout Europe. In fact we must forever be indebted to them. 

I see the Haredim like my sister as intelligent, wise and practical. Without spending hours and hours watching CNN or Fox (they usually don’t have TV’s or radios and have limited internet if at all) they somehow know the ’story’. They know that if they subscribe to the ‘2 States for 2 Peoples’ paradigm that it would mean the end of Israel. They clearly got the message early on that Obama is not our friend. Not the secular Jews friend nor the friend of Haredim.

While many intellectual, liberal, non-Haredi Jews throughout the world continue to vote for leaders who would throw Israel under the bus if they could and who simply do not see the real picture, these often apolitical Haredim (men, women and children who live in super crowded places like Bnei Brak or Mea Shaarim) and who devote their lives to the study of Torah, get it. Their gadolim seem to get it. They have insight. Maybe their insight comes from the ultimate place, Hashem. Many world leaders especially some not so religious Israeli leaders, often seek advice from these great wise men. 

It’s essential that we find common ground with each other and learn to appreciate each other. I believe that we all serve a purpose. Maybe mine is to be a Jewish activist. I might be secular in practice but I am no less Jewish than my Haredi sister and I think she would agree.

Today I find that many of my righteous Gentile friends are more vocal of their support of Jews and Israel than some of my Jewish friends. Like the Muslim silent majority who refuse to reign in their vocal and active terror obsessed minority and thus render themselves irrelevant, I urge the majority of Jews who are leaving any connection to Judaism or Israel to wake up now and find some positive defence of Jews who may appear to have nothing in common but in reality need each other's recognition and support.

Taking Caroline's article to the next level, I would advocate that in order to get Israel's supreme court back to order, they need to include one or more Haredi, wise, spiritual leaders. If we can have Islamic enemies of the state in the Knesset why not have a real Jewish leader in the judiciary?

Can Israel Rely on Trump?

The short answer is: No.

Israel can't rely on anyone. If Jews have learned anything it's that we must rely only on ourselves. That doesn't mean that we should refuse help from others or make strategic alliances with other states, organizations or people even for short periods of time. Had Israel existed at the time of World War II, perhaps the Holocaust could have been averted. It probably would have because the Nazis at first wanted to deport all the Jews out of Germany (and then the rest of Europe) rather than murder them. But as we now know all too well, no other country wanted to take these pour souls in and protect them from slaughter.

During Israel's short modern day history, she has been betrayed repeatedly by virtually all of her allies. Britain wouldn't let ships loaded with Jews who tried to escape from the inferno aka Europe to Palestine during the big war. France reneged on a huge air force deal. MIGs that Israel had paid for and was in dire need to defend herself against massive Arab armies were held up. The US on various occasions had either done nothing to help Israel when she most needed their help in existential wars or worse, co-operated with Israel's enemies (eg: Iran deal). I could write an entire essay on just this topic alone.

Now Trump arguably Israel's best American President friend ever, is hosting the terrorist and self declared PA leader in the hopes of yet again making a peace deal between the Palestinians and the Israelis. In so doing he once again falls into the US trap of legitimizing Israel's enemies. The irony is that Abbas, the PA, Hamas and most of the Arabs who call themselves Palestinians are surely enemies of the Jewish state but are no less friendly to the States. They do not want to make peace with Israel any more today than they did 10 years ago. They want Israel and Jews everywhere to be destroyed forever. If American leaders can't figure this out yet then they are clearly insane.

I did support Trump in his presidency and I support him still today. I knew when he was running as a candidate that he is far from the best Republican in his support for Israel. It was obvious to me that he would be a game changer as far as US-Israel relations compared to his predecessor. While Obama was constantly stabbing Israel in the back, despite saying otherwise, Trump is truly Israel's friend. I've said this before and I'll say it again. Sometimes friends can get you killed with the best intentions.

I knew then that Trump won't necessarily do what's best for Israel. But I also knew that as long as the US elected a president that was even handed with Israel, she would do well. Israel did pretty dam well economically and in other ways even when Obama was trying to screw her. As always I considered the choices. I realized quickly that the biggest challenge facing the world and America in particular was political correctness. Americans were craving to stop it. So was I (I still am). Ted Cruz was a far better friend to Israel than Trump ever was or will be. But Ted couldn't beat Hillary so wishing him in was a waste of time.

As long as Trump helps the job market in the US he'll be a great president. As long as he protects his citizens from the dangers of radical Islam, he'll be a great president. In short, as long as the US does well, Israel will too. Despite Trump not really getting the Middle East or understanding the mindset of the Arab on the street or learning about the history of the true indigenous people of Palestine - The Jews and despite this huge mistake of inviting an antisemitic, Islamic terrorist leader to the White House in order to make the deal of the century at Israel's existential cost, he's still miles ahead of either lying Hillary or the self hater Bernie. It would be a much more dangerous world with either of them as leader.

As for Israelis, they know that they can not rely on any US president. Some are better for the Jews and some are worse but Israelis have learned that they must continue to be self sufficient. They can't put their trust all in one basket. They need to continue to reach out to the world.  It's not a matter of sound economic policy, it's a matter of life and death.

What, more peace negotiations?

Lately I find myself inundated with articles about reviving peace negotiations with Israel and the Palestinians. Most are a version of the '2 State Solution'. You know, the one that wants 2 states for 2 peoples living side by side in peace? How to get to that objective has been problematic to say the least. The old Saudi 'peace plan' has resurfaced once again. And it must be good because:

a) like I just said, it's being talked about again

b) Qatar and most of the other Middle East Arab countries support it

c) that's all I got

Since Trump is sucking up to the Sunnis (similar to the way Obama was sucking up to the Shiites),

even he might jump on board. Let's hope not.

The plan isn't all that bad. All Israel has to do is:

a) give up more land: Judea and Samaria (West Bank), Golan Heights, East Jerusalem which has the Western Wall (no big deal, she's done that before)

b) let millions of Arabs move to Israel (they call it 'right of return'- ya right)

c) create yet one more Muslim state loaded with terrorists, right next door

In short, commit national suicide.

All the Palestinians have to do is:

a) nothing

I had a nightmare where I was in the midst of a terrible disease. The worst part was when the doctors were deciding which limb to cut off of me first in order to keep me alive just a little longer. After they cut off my leg they waited another couple of weeks before they debated what next to cut off and so on. As you can see, this was quite a nightmare. Very similar to all of the crazy ideas put out by various nut cases and/or well meaning people. NONE of these plans have Israel's back. 

Someone (a Jew no less) suggested that maybe the Nazi's idea of moving the Jews to Madagascar might have worked. After all, look at the problems for Jews in modern day Israel.

All these proposals (especially the 2 State idea) share one common theme: The absolute destruction of the Jewish state. It may not happen over night but sure as night follows daylight, it would happen.

Let's pray that Israelis are smarter than the rest of us and despite some of the weaker left wingers, they as a nation will not commit national suicide.

The insanity is that this discussion doesn't seem to want to stop. Can we please talk about something else? I sure hope that Israeli leaders are focusing their attention on other important matters (like a nuclear Iran). Hopefully they are only playing lip service to the Trump administration's dangerous game of 'making the deal of the century' by revamping peace negotiations with Israel and the PA.

I know that it's a no win, complete waste of time and energy and the worst part is that the world always expects that in order to achieve peace, Israel must concede more territory. I know that the Arabs just want to weaken Israel until one day they can run them over and finally destroy them.

I know that every other country has their own agenda and none of them really give a hoot if Israel exists or not. I know that giving sovereign territory to Israel's enemies will not solve the crisis in Syria or anywhere else.  I know all this and I'm just a regular dude. No brilliant geopolitician here.

Just about every world leader (not only from the main powers) have voiced their opinions as to what Israel should do about this hot potato. Even when their own countries are being challenged existentially by Islamists and other issues, they still love to focus their attention on to what concessions Israel must make in order to achieve peace with the terrorists known as the PA.

I don't know about you but I'm so sick of hearing about this. To the Saudis I'd say thanks but no thanks. With friends like you who needs enemies. To the rest (even well intentioned folks) I'd give them a big fat yawn. What else d'ya got?

Bibi: Please Change the Conversation!

PM Bibi Netanyahu needs to change the conversation. I’m sick and tired of listening to him defending Israeli built settlements in Judea and Samaria (aka West Bank). The latest argument between him and secretary Kerry about whether or not the ‘settlements’ are an obstacle to peace is itself an obstacle to peace.

Although there are people like me who understand the deep hatred that the PA leadership harbours toward Israel and the Jews, I can see that most of the world might side with Kerry.

Bibi recounted correctly that for 50 years the Palestinians (I hate that word since there is no such people but am quoting Bibi here) have fought for the destruction of Israel, well before the 1967 Six Day War where Israel recaptured the land known today by some as the West Bank. So his defence is that since they hated us well before there were any Jewish settlements why would Jewish settlements today be an obstacle to peace?

Kerry agreed with Bibi’s history lesson. But still cried that despite the history, if Israel really wanted to make peace, they should stop antagonizing the Palestinians by building Jewish settlements in land that will one day be part of a Palestinian state and further more make that land non-contiguous -making any future state difficult to demarcate. 

As you can see, Bibi’s defensive arguments will ultimately fail as do all arguments which avoid the real truth, the real issue or as aptly known as the elephant in the room.

So what is the real truth? Simple: Judea and Samaria (aka West Bank) belongs to Israel. Period. 

Through the Mandate for Palestine, Israel has legal title to this land. If you believe in the Bible, she’s had it for thousands of years. If you don’t, it started no later than 1917 with the Balfour declaration and was completed in 1948 when Israel became a modern day Jewish State.

Don’t get me wrong. I have much respect and admiration of Bibi as Israel’s democratically elected PM. I’m sure there are many mitigating factors for him and some of his colleagues and predecessors going down the 2 state solution, road. But enough is enough. 

It’s way past time to change the conversation. Stop defending your settlements that are built on your own land. Stop appeasing the haters. Tell the world that the land is ours as per our legal title. If and when we decide to give it away for any reason, it’s up to us and only to us. 

As you might have figured out, I’m a Jewish activist. In Toronto, Canada we host a Gay Pride Parade every summer. Unfortunately, it was soon hijacked by an antisemitic group called Queers Against Israeli Apartheid (Quaia). There were quite a few citizens who didn’t like the group participating in the parade for various reasons. I didn’t like it because they were falsely condemning Israel of apartheid and doing so in someone else’s parade. The city created a tribunal to deal with complaints about the parade. I filled out the application and attended the tribunal to make my case against allowing Quaia to participate in the parade. The panel was composed of the former president of the Canadian Muslim Association, a lawyer who was part of Peace Now (an anti-Israel left wing ‘Jewish’ group) and someone else. I realized very quickly that this tribunal was a sham. They wanted me to defend Israel as not being an apartheid state. I refused to argue this point (I think I said that’s as silly as arguing that water is wet). My argument was simple. The large, expensive parade, in part paid for by my taxes, was to celebrate gay rights. It had nothing to do with Israel or any other country or political issue. I told them that thankfully we live in a democratic society. Quaia is free to organize their own parade on their own dime but should not be allowed to hijack our world famous Gay Pride Parade. 

It took a couple more years but we eventually won this battle. Quaia is no longer welcome to participate in our parade. I’m pretty sure that had I and others tried to defend our cause by attempting to prove that Israel is not an apartheid state, Quaia would still be participating in the parade.

When Bibi avoids the elephant, he makes it very difficult for people like me who try to defend Israel. He makes it easier for her enemies to attack Israel. Case in point is the PA’s latest efforts to insist that the UK apologize for the Balfour Declaration. 

I just wrote a letter to a British MP asking her to support the Balfour Declaration. But why should she listen to me when Israel’s own PM doesn’t seem to ever mention it?

I love Bibi, but if he won’t stand up for the Truth right now, it’s time for him to step down.

UNESCO: Temple Mount is an Islamic Holy Site

If you want people to respect your opinion you must speak the truth and back it up with facts when required. The UN and all of its committees have proven time and again that they don't care about truth of facts. They only care about one thing: delegitimizing Israel at all costs.

In this case UNESCO proved its insanity by ignoring Israel's 3000 year connection to Jerusalem including of course the Temple Mount where the most sacred Jewish site continues to stand. As per Moslem doctrine, these Islamic countries (who submitted the document to UNESCO) attempt to replace years of history and other non-Islamic sites with their own. They have done this repeatedly throughout the world wherever they can get away with it.

Here is UNESCO's document not only declaring that the Temple Mount is really an Islamic holy site but condemning Israel all over the map on everything they could have possibly thought of. It's a very daunting attack that typifies the stealth jihad approach that many Islamic people and Islamic sympathizers continue to take. The attempted legalese belies the total BS that is in this document. I couldn't read too much of it as I have an aversion to BS.

The tragedy here is the number of (temporarily) non-Islamic countries who support this utter nonsensical lie. 24 voted for it, 26 abstained and only 6 voted against it. I wonder where my own country, Canada, stood on this vote.

Anyone who supports the UN or any of its subsidiaries is out of their mind.

Psychology 101

It’s so true. When one child is murdered, the whole world mourns loudly. But when millions are murdered the whole world yawns. 

Today we are faced with the world’s biggest threat since the nightmare of WWII. Iran is on the road to developing nuclear weapons. Iran is the world’s largest terrorist threat and sponsor of numerous other terrorist groups like Hezbola and Hamas. The world’s most powerful leader, President Obama is actually helping Iran to obtain and develop those nuclear weapons. He is jumping though hoops to do so.

It looks like a fait accompli. Meanwhile the world is looking the other way. While everyone has their heads in the sand, the Obama administration is bending over backwards to help Iran develop their nuclear weapons. Even going to the effort to supply and train them in the development of  the most advanced centrifuges.

Granted there are quite a few intelligent people who are on to this nightmare but compared to the billions who simply don’t care or pretend to agree with this irresponsible and dangerous strategy, these few will be rendered useless.

If you hate Israel, as Obama and his friends certainly do, then I understand why they are doing this. Because hate is strong and blind. It usually defies any logic. And this is the case here as well. The point is that helping Iran to arm themselves with nuclear weapons will not only harm Israel. It will harm the entire world. Especially those of us in the West. The West in this case means every non Arab or Muslim country. The irony is that those left leaning, appeasers of Muslim terrorists are the most likely to suffer first and the hardest. Countries like China and Russia will suffer the least because they have no qualms about using severe force (screw proportionality) to keep the Islamists at bay. While European countries and the US are bending over backwards to kiss Muslim ass but ignoring opportunities to ally with ‘moderate’ Muslim states like Egypt or help the Druze throughout the Middle East.

It will strike a nuclear arms race in the Middle East as well. Some of the most backward countries there are also the most wealthy. So they too desire and can afford to buy nuclear reactors, missiles and all the technology and experts to develop nuclear arms as well.

Can’t Obama and his friends see this scenario playing out? Are they that desperate to destroy Israel that they are willing to destroy the entire planet? Maybe. Because extreme hate defies logic.

But Obama is only one man. He’s not even that smart. Neither are his buddies. Do you really think that Biden is a genious? How about the Clinton’s? I don’t think so either.

But what about the rest of the people on the planet? How about American citizens? Are they all asleep? Well some are. And some of us have our own ‘problems’.

So how can we stop this train wreck? Maybe we can get a video of a poor Iranian child getting tortured in Iran. And have this video go viral with the title: Do you want this country to have nuclear arms?

According to Psychology 101, this just might do the job. 

The More the World Changes, the More it Stays the Same

I just watched a video of President Obama speaking at a synagogue in Washington, DC celebrating Jewish American Heritage month. He said all the right things (more or less) in a funny and compassionate way. He does have some excellent speech writers for sure. This liberal Jewish audience applauded him vigorously much the way cattle eat heartily before going to slaughter.

Be very wary when he starts his speech with: 'I've got Israel's back.'
It always ends the same way. Because of his 'love' of Israel, he needs to do what he thinks is right. His deal with Iran will surely help protect Israel from a nuclear Iran, in his mind. The US constant pressure to make Israel give up more land to the Palestinians in order to formulate another peace deal is surely what he thinks is best for Israel. Now maybe he has genuine good intentions. I really don't know and I really don't care that much either. What I do care about is Israel's safety. And I always try to consider what is ethically and morally the right thing to do.

First point: Judea and Samaria (aka The West Bank) belongs to Israel legally. If they chose to give it away to their enemies and thereby commit national suicide is another point entirely. Let's be totally honest. If the US administration respected Israel's legal title to Judea and Samaria, Netanyahu would not even be talking about 2 states for 2 people.

Point two: Back to Israel's safety. As a Jew who's parents suffered through the Holocaust, when I say never again, I really mean it. I don't need a speech writer to press me to say those words. Without Israel I have no safety net and neither do the millions of Jews living through out the world whether they realize it or not. As long as Israel remains strong, militarily, economically, culturally, ethically and morally, we are safe. As long as Israel focuses on its Jewishness, we will be safe.

So thanks Obama for attending shul in Washington and saying some nice words about Judaism and Jewish Americans. But I did not need to hear your ongoing diatribe about what you think Israel should do with their Arab neighbours. I found it most insulting. Kind of like the speech a boss gives to his employee just before firing him. 'John, I think you've done an excellent job here and I've always valued your work effort. It's because of your hard work ethic that I think you'd be a better fit working at another firm. Take good care (and get lost).'

Like most people, it's important to listen to what they say. But it's even more important to watch what they do. It's time liberal Jews stop listening to him and pay attention to what he is doing. And what he is doing is throwing Israel under the bus. That was his intention well before he became president and it hasn't changed since.

I'm Sorry!

Have you ever had to deal with an abusive boss who loses his or her mind and yells their face off at you for no particular reason? Then later they apologize. ‘Sorry, I had a bad day’ or ‘Sorry, I didn’t get much sleep last night’.

Of course we all have. But what about that same boss, co-worker, teacher or spouse who constantly attacks you verbally but almost always apologizes later? Sooner or later we all ignore the apology. When that behaviour becomes routine, our response also becomes routine. We don’t hear it. It’s certainly not sincere if the situation is constantly being repeated. It’s obvious that the rage was meant to attack us personally. That is what we remember.

Just because someone apologizes, that doesn’t always erase the bad behavior. Nor should it.

Sadly, many of our world leaders suffer from this affliction. Especially when it comes to the Jews and Israel we have seen that behavior so many times already that their apologies become meaningless.

Joe Biden’s recent remark using Shakespeare’s anti-Semitic term ‘Shylock’ in a speech about bankers ripping off clients is one such an example. He later admitted that it was a poor choice of words only after he was chastised by the ADL. He’s probably the most apologetic vice president the US has ever had. That is not a good thing.

It reminds me of Obama’s first term speech about his country’s ally Israel. He clearly stated that Jerusalem always was and is the capital of the Jewish state. And it must remain undivided.  He later lamented his poor choice of words. ‘Undivided’ was not what he meant. What did he mean? Divided of course. West Jerusalem for the Jews. East Jerusalem for the Arabs. Like his VP, Obama is probably the most apologetic President the US has ever had. We all know all about his apology tour during his first term as President. After listening to his collective speeches, beginning in Cairo and occurring all over the world, one would think that before him, the US was an evil empire, despised by the world and deservedly so. Was the States perfect? Of course not. Far from it. But name me a country that has done more for world freedom?

But not to worry. He will fix it. From now on, the US will lead from behind. It will no longer stick its nose where it doesn’t belong, except when it comes to Israel.

He has made just about every possible wrong decision he could have. And his biggest is his constant defense of Iran. He has Iran’s back when it comes to ISIS. And it shouldn’t surprise us, after all they beheaded an American journalist. But when they killed a few hundred thousand people, he was silent. When Hamas killed an American student in Israel, he was also silent.

More importantly, he’s allowing Iran to continue to build nuclear weapons. And if Israel dares to destroy them, he might attack Israel. He’d start with denying Israel arms. In fact he already has. But don’t worry, if G-d forbid the Iranians succeed in launching nuclear weapons at some point, I’m sure we can all count on Obama to apologize. 

The Media Has a Lot to Answer For

So the war in Gaza is on and off. After thousands of rockets fired by Hamas in Gaza into Israel, Israelis have finally decided that enough is enough. The terrorist group Hamas is as ruthless as they come. They use their own children as cover when they fire at Israel, knowing that the IDF (Israel Defense Force) will not fire back if children are in their way.

Hamas insists both verbally and in writing that they will not stop until every Jew is dead. Note they said Jew, not Israeli.

As all other Muslim radicals, they will not stop with the Jews. Like the Nazis before them, they start with the Jews but end up killing everyone else including their own. Too bad, the rest of the world hasn’t woken up yet. BTW, the rest of the world includes none other than Israel’s # 1 benefactor, namely the US. It also includes the mainstream media. They have a lot to answer for. More about them later.  It includes most world leaders. And believe it or not it includes many Jews. Both in the diaspora and even in Israel.

Everyone has a right to choose a side. Even if they chose the wrong side. What I insist is that they admit it. In other words if you choose Hamas over Israel than simply admit that you hate Jews. That’s all I ask. Like most radical Muslims who are today’s Nazis, for the most part they readily admit that they hate Jews and all none-Muslims for that matter.

What I said applies to the media. If every bit of misinformation being reported by the mainstream media started with ‘We hate Jews’, I could live with that. Those people who hate Jews would buy into the mainstream media, those who don’t would not.

This leaves us with the well meaning but often ignorant media who simply regurgitate what they hear from the larger news organizations. If CNN is constantly reporting the #’s of dead Gazans, then so must the thousands of smaller, local news media. My local TV news station in Toronto which is excellent at reporting the traffic, weather and local events, continues to publish the # of Gazans killed as a result of  the IDF. Their 1 minute snippet of the war in Gaza usually stops at the # of dead from each side. Since Israel cares about it’s citizens and builds many excellent bomb shelters, employs world class anti-missile system like the Iron Dome, uses sirens and phone apps to notify it’s citizens of incoming rockets and most importantly moves its citizens out of harms way whereas Hamas cares more about its leaders and its weapons than it does about its people, simply reporting the #’s of dead and injured people on both sides without the context, is anti-Israel. Of course in this scenario, many more Gazans will be killed or injured than Israelis.

Worse still is the constant barrage of  photos and videos of real and not so real injured and / or dead Gazans by the media. Can you imagine what could have happened if the media had the ability to publish images of the millions of  ‘innocent’ civilian Germans or Japanese who were killed or injured in WWII? What if every murderer gets filmed while he himself is shot up by police? Oh and don’t forget the headline: Robber gets brutally shot 6 times in the head by police. What if all context fails to make the news? The fact that the robber killed 3 innocent people in the bank in order to complete his transaction is omitted time after time? We would have utter chaos. Well intentioned people would be siding with the murderers simply because they didn’t know the truth. We could have easily lost WW II because the majority of the civilian population in the West would side with the enemy.

The media carries a lot of responsibility to report the news accurately and honestly. With it they have the power to topple entire nations. In the current war with Hamas, it is crystal clear to any objective, knowledgeable person that Israelis are the good guys trying to defend themselves from Muslim terrorists who wish nothing less than the murder of every Jew and the destruction of Israel, to begin with.

The mainstream media are helping to spin the story the other way entirely. Right now they are certainly being supported by most governments throughout our world but even well before Obama’s obvious anti-Israel administration came into power, much of the mainstream media being aligned with the Left, were anti-Israel.

The world is subtly but constantly being brainwashed by the media when it comes to Israel. It seems that even as Israel is trying to rid the world of evil, internationally known terrorists by the name of Hamas, Israel can do nothing right. They are damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

If G-d forbid Israel ever falls (I as a believer cannot ever fathom that) I will hold the mainstream media accountable.

I include the New York Times recent article below as an example (one of thousands) of the media's often subtle anti-Israel's stance. In this recent case, they imply a moral equivalence between a well defined terrorist group, Hamas and the only democratic, liberal, free country in the Middle East, Israel.

My letter to the NY Times:

Dear New York Times:

When it comes to Israel, you have a definite bias against it. Case in point was your August 19 article with the headline "Rockets Said to Be Fired from Gaza Strip Puncture Latest Cease-Fire". 

You implied that the rockets that hit Israel in the south, might not have been fired from Gaza. Perhaps the Israelis fired them at themselves.

But then you realized your ridiculous headline and changed it to: 'Rockets from Gaza and Israeli Response Breaks Cease Fire'. 

So now you are implying that there was no difference between Hamas firing rockets at Israel indiscriminately during the cease fire and Israel's response.

Surely you can agree that if a bank robber shoots some civilians in the course of the robbery and then the police shoot him, only he is guilty. The police are doing their job in keeping law and order.

It's a good thing that police are protecting us. Likewise when Arab terrorists from Gaza break their own cease fire and continue to fire rockets into Israel, only they are guilty of breaking the cease fire. Any response from Israel should be expected and is in fact a good thing. How would you have reported the robbery? Well if it occurred in Israel and if it was an Arab who was the robber then you might report it as 'Sadly a poor Palestinian who couldn't afford to feed his family, was shot by Israeli police'. You'd probably include some pics of his many children picking thru rubble and his wife crying at his funeral and blaming the Jews. 

If I wanted to read an anti-Israel paper I would consult with Al Jazeera. Your anti-Israel and anti-Semitic bias is so blatantly obvious you should be ashamed of yourselves. Even a 4 year old can see that you are far from an honest news paper. 

Antisemitism Marches on While the World Looks the Other Way

Thank G-d for the internet. I live in Toronto, Canada. The year is 2014.  I have cable TV at home with over 100 channels. Likewise at the cottage we have satellite TV with hundreds of channels. Most of our news channels are American. The main news headlines are as follows:

Pro-Russian rebels shot down a Malaysian airliner near Ukraine. 

Israel is in the midst of finally trying to quiet the Hamas terrorists in Gaza.

The war continues in Syria killing and displacing hundreds of thousands.

I've been following local and international news for many years. There is little to no mention of the antisemitic events that continue to occur throughout our world in any of the mainstream news media. If it wasn't for the internet I wouldn't even know that antisemitism exists anymore! 

Here are just a few items that should have been reported in the mainstream TV news:

Fatah leaders of the Palestinian government claim that Jews offer sacrifices made from the blood of Arab children.

Muslim demonstrators in Paris armed with axes, chanting 'Death to the Jews', tried to storm a synagogue.

Still in Paris: a Molotov cocktail was thrown into another synagogue; a 17 year old Jewish girl was pepper sprayed in the face by a man shouting 'Dirty Jewess, inshalla you will die'; a Jewish man was beaten up by 3 men who scrawled a swastika on his chest.; in 2006 a young Jewish man was kidnapped, tortured and murdered; in 2012 a Muslim murdered a rabbi and 3 children; this year 4 Jews were killed in a Jewish museum in Brussels by a Muslim; Jews were driven out of the Swedish city of Malmo by Muslims.

In Turkey (see photo above), Jews have been served notice 'to be very afraid and to get out', this after living in relative peace after 500 years. Their Muslim leader supports these fanatics. He, by the way, is considered to be Obama's best friend (his words, not mine).  

Here in Regina, Canada,  a peaceful rally in support of Israel was interrupted by pro-Hamas demonstrators who tore Israeli flags out of their hands and knocked down and attacked a woman just the other day. There was no mention of this in the news. In Toronto last week, a Jewish man who was peacefully demonstrating against Hamas was attacked by Arabs and then taken to jail by police. 

I could write a very large book documenting such despicable events. They have and continue to occur in almost every country in the world. I myself have been served up Jew hatred both as a child and as an adult looking for work and I live in Toronto! 

There are 2 very different worlds that I'm exposed to. Mainstream news like CNN and my national, government sponsored news CBC which has a decidedly anti-Israel and antisemitic bias and the real news which I get via the internet  through such knowledgeable people and organizations such as: Daniel Pipes, Caroline Glick, Arlene Kushner, Honest Reporting, Melanie Phillips, Ideology of Islam, Media Scan, CAMERA and thankfully by many others.

Why are these incidents not reported? Are they too painful to report or does nobody care? Perhaps we've reached a saturation point. When something happens so often that it becomes commonplace, nobody cares. If one Jewish girl gets attacked via an antisemitic act, it might get reported. But when it happens every day, hundreds or thousands of times per day in fact, nobody cares. Maybe it's simply because the world hates us. Some more than others for sure but I've been seen that little bit of Jew hatred subtly displayed by far too many people from all walks of life. From colleagues at work, to many world leaders. The constant barrage of antisemitism is insidious. It's crept into many well meaning, left leaning people and the brain washing continues. 

Make no mistake, these are not anti-Israel attacks, these are clearly attacks against Jews. Anti-Israelism is the new antisemitism. Little, if anything, has changed since the Holocaust. If fact, now that the world continues its love affair with attacking the tiny Jewish state, it's gotten a whole lot easier to hate Jews. 

It's so embedded in our culture that even I would be surprised to see any one of such events reported on mainstream media. Although one can search for anti-Israel or antisemitism on the internet and you wouldn't be able to read all of the items in your lifetime. Today, many Jews and righteous Gentiles would be shocked to hear such events and many intelligent folks don't even recognize the antisemitism when they hear or see it.

Sterling vs Kerry

Sterling, an NBA franchise owner tells his soon to be ex-mistress that he doesn't want her sitting next to blacks, in private. She taped the conversation in the hopes of getting some more money out of him and/or seeing him punished as she knows her days of having him as her sugar daddy are numbered. That little event made world head lines especially in the US. I'm sure CNN will be talking about this for a month mixed in with some sporadic non-news about the still missing Malaysian airliner.

Around the same time, Secretary of State John Kerry tells world leaders that unless Israel agrees to a 2 state solution, it could become an apartheid state. Can you imagine that the US, arguably Israel's closest ally and historic benefactor continues the lies spread by Israel's enemies, that it is or almost is an apartheid state? And it barely gets mentioned in the big media world wide? Of course he tried to back pedal out of this one and I'm sure he'll succeed. After all, hardly anyone knows about it, since it was barely reported and most importantly, did you hear what Ronald Sterling said about blacks?

Even one of the largest Jewish organizations world wide, The Simon Wiesenthal Center was shocked that Kerry said that. How did they respond? After being shocked, they made sure to say that they commend his efforts to bring peace to the region and yes he should correct this nasty canard. The Center also voiced their support to the punishment laid out to Ronald Sterling. Guess which article was first in the Center's blog? Of course the Sterling post came first. Way down the list (position # 6) came the Kerry posting. Well if it ain't that important for the Jews that the US administration calls Israel, one of the most free, open, democratic countries in the world, an apartheid state, then why should the rest of the world give a crap?

Lastly, I laughed when I read the pathetic article about Kerry. The Wiesenthal Center was 'shocked' about Kerry's comments. Shocked? His boss and his boss's entire circle are no friend's to Israel, either on purpose or through ignorance. Anyone who thinks otherwise has his/her head in the sand. Kerry couldn't wait to get that comment out there in support of his truly apartheid Muslim friends. Abbas can get away with saying that he'll never ever recognize a Jewish state and once again befriends terrorist organizations like Hamas which openly call for Israel's destruction but somehow Israel would be apartheid if she didn't give away her land, Judea and Samaria! So in Kerry's eyes, Israel has a choice: commit national suicide by giving in to the 2 state solution or else be labeled apartheid by an anti-Semite like him. To me the choice is obvious.

PS: Please don't quote his brother's story how their ancestry is Jewish but they converted to Christianity because they couldn't take the anti-Semitism they were subjected to in Europe. Not only does that not help your case, it helps mine.

Judea, Samaria and Peace Negotiations

Should Israel continue to hold ‘peace negotiations’ with Arabs who call themselves Palestinians? Should Israel be striving for a 2 state solution?

I recently attended a one day event in Toronto which was part of Israel Truth Week. One of the common themes was this: Israel needs to decide whether they are owners or occupiers of the land we call Judea and Samaria (Arabs call it the West bank). The policy should be simple. If they are occupiers, they should leave. If they are owners they need to scream that fact, loud and clear, to the Arabs who live in Judea and Samaria as well as to the rest of the world.  First truth, then solutions. I liked what I heard.

A few days later I had the privilege to hear Caroline Glick speak. In my opinion, she is the best advocate for Israel that we have today. She truly gets it.

Here are the simple facts:

Israel owns Judea and Samaria just as it owns Tel Aviv. Jews lived in those lands for thousands of years. They are the indigenous people. Furthermore, in contemporary times, from the 1900’s onwards, there are mandates created by international law, which identified Palestine including Judea and Samaria as the Jewish state. Did you know that the current paper in Israel known as the Jerusalem Post was initially called the Palestine Post?

The Arabs, who recently took the name Palestinians in order to pretend that they are the indigenous people, are Israel’s enemy. If you don’t believe me, and you haven’t been following recent history, then please read their charter. They want all of Israel. Because their leaders are radical Muslims, they don’t like Jews, Christians or any non-Muslims. Isn’t funny how when Jordan occupied Judea and Samaria, there was no call for them to leave?

Now the simple question: Would you give land away that you own and have owned for thousands of years, to your enemy?

I guess there may be certain situations; very few mind you, which might make sense to do so. For instance, if you were 100% sure that by giving away a large chunk of your land to your enemy you would achieve a lasting peace, then maybe you might choose to do so.

In Israel’s case they have ongoing proof that this won’t happen. Quite the opposite in fact. They recently gave away the Gaza strip, which included high tech agricultural nurseries to the Arabs in the hopes of peace. What did they get in return? The nurseries were destroyed and rockets haven’t ceased to drop on Israelis (including school children) since the day they left. The terrorist group Hamas has taken over the area with a more deadly mission than the Egyptians or PA ever had against the Israelis.

To make matters worse, the land of Judea and Samaria is composed of high hills and plateaus. It’s much higher than the low lands where most of Israel’s population lives. Cities like Tel Aviv are on the Mediterranean coast and can be hit easily by rocket fire and even by gunfire from nearby Arab villages. If Judea and Samaria were given away, Israel would be left by a 9-mile boarder in its narrowest part in the middle. The PA is so unstable and corrupt that even Jordan does not want to be bordered by them. They prefer the stable government of Israel.

It would be national suicide to give away Judea and Samaria to Israel’s enemies. Is there any doubt that if they did, that the Arabs would fire rockets down on Israelis? None. It’s guaranteed to happen.

Why then are the Israeli’s pursuing a 2 state solution with their enemies during the current, never ending, and peace negotiations?

The Israeli government is under pressure from their allies to do so. They know that no matter how many concessions they offer, their enemies will never agree to leaving Israel in peace. They once again hope to show the world that it’s the Arabs who walked away from the table. Is that a wise move? Absolutely not.

Much like when then Prime Minster Ehud Barak offered Yasser Arafat 97% of Judea and Samaria in exchange for a piece of paper with the word peace written on it, people thought he was nuts. But he wanted to show the world that even if he gave Arafat what he wanted, the enemy would never agree to peace. Barak was right, but that was a huge mistake. By offering that land to Israel’s enemy, he set a dangerous precedent. Now the world (including some Israelis) thinks that should be an option. Maybe by offering it, it means that just maybe it wasn’t Israel’s to begin with or its just not that important to Israel to hold on to it.

Let me posit a simple analogy; Someone strikes up a conversation with you about your child. He says that your child is so evil that he needs to be put down. Killed. He gives you various reasons why he thinks that way. Your child chastised his child in the play ground. Will you try to 'negotiate' with that person? Will you continue in a discussion with that person about why killing your child might be a bad idea? Or will you call 911? I think most sane people would opt for calling 911. 

There are certain things that one should simply not negotiate. Committing national suicide is one such thing!

Today Israel’s current administration still doesn’t get it. They are playing a dangerous game by remaining in the negotiations game knowing full well that by giving their valuable land away or by even pretending to, they are giving hope to more terrorists and rewarding bad behaviour. They continue to hand out concessions, like releasing hundreds of prisoners with blood on their hands. It’s simply a lose lose scenario for the Israelis. In the end, the Arabs will undoubtedly try to establish themselves as an independent country and continue to vilify Israel and of course try to destroy Israel from within and without.

There won’t be peace any time soon whether or not the Israeli’s give Judea and Samaria to their enemies. But by giving it away it pretty much assures Israel a terrible fate. And by continuing in the US’s enforced, peace negotiation farce, Israel continues to erode it’s own self esteem and worse.
