The Insanity of the Left

I am enjoying life in beautiful, warm, sunny and Jew friendly Miami, Florida.  We are renting a condo for 2 months and somehow managed to miss a freezing, snowy Toronto. 

We had our grandkids stay with us for 2 weeks. We and they had a blast. My routine when they are gone is  pickleball in the morning for a few hours, swimming in the ocean followed by swimming at our beautiful pool that gets sun all day long and is facing the stunning Intercoastal water way.

The people I've met both at Haulover park where I play pickleball and at our condo have been lovely. 

Our condo offers Sabbath services and many of my new friends are Jewish (some orthodox) and are right wing (including the Christian ones). They love Israel. They love Bibi Netanyahu. And they love Donald Trump. They are totally on board with Israel and the US war on Iran. 

Yesterday at the beach we met a nice American couple from Long Island, NY. We talked about our respective families, life styles, etc. He told me that he's Jewish but that his first wife was Catholic. He told her that she can raise their future children anyway she likes as long as they were good kids. After divorcing from his second wife he found his Jewish girlfriend who we met at the beach. 

Eventually my friend eluded to President Trump ruining the country.  I let his comment slide. But later back at the pool, he again made a negative comment about Trump. I needed confirmation on where he stood so asked him: You don't like him?  No I love him he responded with a smirk. And then he confirmed that he thought he was the worst president ever. His partner quickly agreed. My wife and I both responded that we loved him. As per the usual response I get from Lefties, they were shocked at our response. How dare we love him or even like him?

They said all kinds of nutty things. For example:  because we are Canadians we don't really understand what he's doing to the US. That Trump was an antisemite. That polls show that most Americans don't like him. His girlfriend mentioned that Fox News doctored a video of Trump at an event that he hosted. They removed his cap and replaced it with a more respectable hat. Wow, how terrible!

We didn't want to get into a confrontation with them especially in the pool with others nearby but we refused to say nothing. When we said that Trump is Israel's best friend, look at how both countries are taking on the terror state, Iran and that his daughter married the very Jewish Jarred Kushner, his response was that Trump is a great actor. Then he finally said it. 'Look at what he's doing with Cuba. He is trying to take over the world, just like Hitler!'

Rather than lose my temper, I just swam away. My wife pointed out that they will not have a pleasant stay for the next 2 weeks if they reiterate those insane accusations at the pool. After they left, I told my friend's at the pool what just happened. One of them said that she will let him have it if he says anything like that to her. Her point was that now when the safety of the world and especially the Jewish world is at stake, we can't be silent. She's right!

If you've read my blog you know exactly how I felt about Obama, Biden, Harris, Trudeau, Carney and other leaders on the Left. I really despised Obama (my new 'friend' said that he was the best president ever). But I never called him or any of the rest Hitler. Hitler almost got away with wiping the entire Jewish population off the world and was responsible for millions of people dying and suffering in the most gruesome way. As much damage that these leaders did, especially the Democratic presidents I mentioned, they were not Hitler. Calling them that diminishes the true historic nature of exactly who Adolph Hitler (let his name be forgotten) was. 

Furthermore, I would never insult or want to inflame my opponents who adored them (Obama, Biden, et all) by calling their heroes Hitler. That gross, inflammatory insult is not how one conducts a discussion. 

I don't recall anyone on the right every accusing those leaders of being Hitler. Feel free to check the Fox News tapes. You won't find any mention of that. 

I certainly understand that people on the Left have every right to not like the leaders that I do. That they specifically dislike President Trump's brashness and un-saintly like behaviour. Believe me, I get it. But they need to rein in their insanity and TDS (Trump derangement syndrome) and show respect to a new found friend when having a disagreement. Calling him hitler crossed the line. They know that I like him a lot because I told them so. Are they calling me a hitler lover? How else can I interpret it? A son of Jewish Holocaust survivors no less!

If I see my 'friend' again (I will not be looking for him, I assure you) I will not talk about politics as I'm not looking for a fight. But should he start, I will ask him pointedly: How would you like it if I called your hero, Obama, Hitler? Would you still want to be my friend?

And that is how I'd end our 'friendship'. 

We Are Living in Miraculous Times

So what exactly are the miracles that we are experiencing?

President Trump and PM Netanyahu are leading their nations on a much needed, righteous attack on the world's worst terrorist nation, Iran. And obviously smashing it. 

I for one, refuse to get distracted by so many articles quoting or actually mis-quoting US leaders as to the purpose of the attack. Or trying to frame this attack in any way morally wrong (there was no imminent threat by Iran to the US so therefore Trump had no right to 'start' a war with Iran) or that Bibi lured Trump into attacking Iran. 

I'm not a child who easily gets distracted. The question is very straight forward and simple:

Should the vile Ayatollah regime in Iran be taken out? If you don't think that the answer is an unequivocal Yes, then I can't help you. If you are even a little bit unsure, then no one can help you. If you say yes but have all sorts of reservations, then again you are beyond help. 

The Iranian regime has proved itself to be the world's arch enemy. It caused thousands of deaths to Americans, Israelis, Iranian citizens and to almost every nation on the planet. Yet some people still don't see them as the very real threat they are today.

Since 2009 when Obama became president, I watched the world turn into a very dangerous place. The world has always had evil empires, leaders and nations. For decades we have been watching them grow and shrink. Russia and China are the 2 obvious super powers who pose serious threats to the entire world. Clearly they are not the only ones. But thanks to the supreme super power, the United States of America, those dangerous nations and others have been constantly challenged and held at bay. That was until 2009. Obama declared the US as the bad guy. He took the US down almost single handedly. He ruined the US economy. He ruined the US military. Despite his platform that the US must be united, he was responsible for dividing the US more so than any predecessor. His policy of open borders help to destroy America. Letting in murderous gangs who brought in deadly drugs like fentanyl and who reintroduced slavery into America and who made a mockery of existing immigration laws, absolutely ruined the lives of many hard working Americans. 

His foreign policy was at least just as bad. His animus to Jews in general and Israel in particular was killing me inside. His perpetual 2 faced demagoguery seemed to hypnotize so many 'smart', well educated people. For the first time in my life I was scared. There was no longer a powerful US to counteract China, Russia and others. The world looked like it was slowly plunging into darkness. Worse, I couldn't see a way out. Mostly because so many of my friends, colleagues and relatives didn't see what I saw. If you can't identify the problem, you cannot fix it. Even if you can, you still might not but at least you have a chance. 

Then out of nowhere G-d gave us a miracle in President Trump. He turned things around as much as one person could do in 4 short years. But the obstacles he faced were enormous. Just when he turned the economy around Covid hit the world and devastated it. We are still suffer the consequence of it today. The hope he gave us (that America could once again lead the free world) was incredible but short lived. 

Biden took the presidency. How that happened is an entire other book. As we all bloody know, he was not in charge. He wasn't even in charge of his own mind. America's position in the world fell even lower and faster than it did under Obama. Our enemies saw this as a fantastic opportunity to do as they wished. Russia attacked Ukraine. China was threatening various states in the far east as was North Korea. Islamists were taking over Europe and the west with the help of short minded people on the left. Again so many well intentioned people didn't see a problem with Biden and his administration. If they did, they kept quiet about it. While he was busy eating ice cream or napping at the beach and his generals were busy deciding on what shade of nail polish to allow their soldiers to wear, our enemies were building up their military. Iran was building ballistic missiles to fire at Israel or anyone else they wished to fire at. They were well on their way to building nuclear bombs. Israel showed the world their plans and tried to warn the world about the very real danger they posed. But Bibi's perfectly stated words (he is the world's best orator) fell on deaf ears. 

In fact Bibi, Israel and Jews everywhere became the enemy of the West. Especially after the Hamas massacre of Israelis on Oct 7 2023. Jew haters throughout the world woke up with the assistance of those who never slept (Iran, Qatar and others). The alliance with the dumbed down Left in the West with Islamists who would gladly throw many of these temporary allies off the roofs, continued to grow. 

Instead of standing with the only democratic, western values state in the Middle East (Israel), my own country (Canada) and other western nations said they would arrest Bibi if he ever stepped foot on our country! The brutal murderers, rapists and torturers of Hamas were exempt!

It looked like the end of the world. But then out of nowhere, Trump re-emerged to lead America. Any naivety he might have had during his first term, was gone. I don't think he realized how bad the swamp in DC really was previously. He made a bunch of promises and he's keeping them. He began by closing the border, something that his predecessors refused to do. Heck they even denied that it was open!

He brought manufacturing back to the US. Again something that his predecessors said publicly: It can't be done. He lured big businesses back to the US and negotiated trade deals with almost every nation. These deals benefited the US for the first time in decades. He refuses to be taken as a fool by Europe or any other nation. 

And today he and my hero Bibi Netanyahu are finally taking on Iran in a very real way. They are giving the Iranian people the first opportunity since 1979 to throw their ayatollah regime into the garbage. No one said this would be easy of that it will necessarily come to fruition but it's obviously the right thing to do. 

It took a lot of courage for both of these brave leaders to do what they are doing. No other state leaders have stepped up to the plate. In fact most have not only declined to help save the free world, but are quick to criticize their efforts. Both leaders have devoted their lives for their people. They have sustained assassination attempts, all sorts of insane charges, court orders and outright lies. Their enemies within their states are perhaps their biggest challenges especially while they are engaging with very real existential threats from outside. 

There are so many miracles going on, some obvious, some less so. The fact that Israel killed their ayatollah during Purim (an ancient Jewish holiday that celebrates the demise of the Persian Jew killer, Haman) is no coincidence. 

So to me the overall miracle is that despite all the obstacles facing us, 2 nations led by 2 brave patriots with very different personalities and leadership styles have come to challenge our enemies out of nowhere! They are trying to make the world a safer place. Instead of criticizing them we should be applauding them. They are trying to change the world!
