Harper's Big Mistake

As a Stephen Harper fan in Canada, I was sickened by the constant bombardment of the conservative party's ads telling us ad nauseam  that 'Justin is just not ready'. You can watch the ad here:

The truth is the best policy. Did the conservative party really believe that Justy wasn't ready? Ie. don't elect him yet but it's ok to elect him next time. Whereas the Liberal's message was that Harper was evil and charged him and his party with all kinds of lies in order to win, the conservative message was quite the opposite: Justy isn't a petulant, arrogant, ignorant, spoiled, dangerous jack ass, he's simply 'not ready'. Those pathetic conservative ads helped to legitimize Justy as our next leader. If Stephen Harper really thought that, then he deserved to lose. But I don't really think he thought that. I think it was a combination of:

1. he didn't want the thankless job that badly any more
2. he had a terrible marketing team (or the team was working for the liberals)

The conservative party needs to be far more aggressive. My adds would have said that Justy will never be ready. Harper was PM for almost 10 years. Any idiot knows that people want change simply for the sake of change. Even if he was the best PM ever and I think he was, most people think that he had his turn and it's time for someone else. I truly believe that most people didn't necessarily disagree with the policies or performance of the conservative party. They just wanted someone else. Conservatives should have started grooming someone else with the same principled values as Harper, a year ago. Harper himself should have nominated someone like Jason Kenny or John Baird for the job well before this election instead of staying in the race himself. Especially knowing who the 2 alternatives for our next PM were. Given the choice, I would prefer Mulcair over Justy but it's really neck and neck between who is more dangerous and what their motives are. If you live as a principled person, you understand economics, foreign policy, history and have decent values, you must do what's best for your country. Even if it means not running despite being the best person.

Good bye Prime Minister Stephen Harper. You'll be sorely missed!

Great post Leon. I agree that they had to be more aggressive however the "Conservative" Party needs to be Conservative! I'm sick of Globalism anti-Canadian selling off Canada to the lowest bidder turning Canada into a "Thrift Shop" for all the un, non and anti-Canadian entities around the World, especially Communist China and now all the other turd world cesspits under the sellout TPP. Sadly there aren't treason indictments against Harper in my opinion. The Conservative pro-American "Right" is saying the TPP is another Obama sellout of America while the "Conservative" drones blindly backing Harpoon, is pandering it as a "Victory for Canada". How is expanding Foreign "Guest" Workers going to help Canada? How is your tax payer dollars subsidizing Canadian industries decimated by the TPP crime good for Canada and not reeking of more Socialism?
Harpoon and his "Conservative" party did nothing to de-fund CBC; they did nothing to save SUN while we get Al-Jazeera; did nothing to confront the anti-scientific criminal economy bankrupting crime of "Global Warming". Did nothing to outline the realities regarding Islam. Did nothing to openly promote Conservatism and CANADIAN culture... I could go on and on and on...
Keep living the dream....

Simple Question: Who was you favourite Canadian PM?

After WWII the Britishquickly voted Winston C out of office. It was time for a change. I thought for some time that Harper was going to succumb to the "time for a change " feeling. Perhaps he should have stepped down or announced that this would be his last election and he would step down during the coming parliament. Easy to say now , but a great post Leon , you have a keen insight

Anonymous, thanks for your kind words. Of course hind sight is always 20/20.But if anyone in his inner circle had the guts they should have told him months ago that he's taking a big chance running for another term. By putting up another respected nominee they might have kept the ball rolling. I also would have advertised the lack of any principles from his opponent. Like Justine's constant bending over to the Islamic vote and shown pictures with him in full Islamic garb at a wahabist mosque in Montreal. When told by the US defence dept that it was linked with al Qaida he replied that Americans don't always get things right. I would have published pictures of what's going on in Europe being overrun with violent Muslims and titled them 'Is this the Canada you want?'. He's planning on bringing in 25,000 Syrians here by Christmas and that's just the beginning. There really was so much material to choose from. Just because it's the conservative party it doesn't mean that their campaign must be 'conservative'. They need to push the emotional buttons of the voters any way they can yet they sadly did the opposite. In the debate Harper should have asked Trudeau straight up 'Do you want to see daylight with Israel like Obama' or 'How will you vote in the UN when it comes to our ally Israel?'. Harper reminded me a lot like Mitt Romney who seemed afraid to bring up all the dirt (and there was tons of it) on Obama.

Leon thanks for this, I did not know you had such political feelings.

I have find myself debating, well one does not debate a Fashionable leftie, one just tries to counter the idiocy, on Facebook.

Interesting how much the Fashionable Left hates anything smacking of the Right. They are still caught up in the Hitler Right, Jesus Christ Left, paradigm, and have no concept or understanding of statism and Fascism.

They hate Harper with all their might, they are not sure why, but my sense is that he is far too white for them. Justin is deemed both dreamy and cool by the fashionable wanna be hipster types. Who though a minority seem to have a huge presence in the CBC and media in general.

Leon as you know I do not live in Canada anymore, but an my bi-annual visits I did not see the environment deteriorating, nor did I see racism growing, except from the Arabs who will grow in size and in their pain in the assability as time goes by.
The economic is still much better than 90% of the planet, yet Canadians are bitching and whining.

Reminds me of a YouTube video where Americans are asked ten questions about Canada and get almost all of them wrong. The Canadians laugh at how stupid the Yanks are. Then they ask ten Canadians the same question and they too get almost all of the answers wrong. Instead of laughing they call on the government to increase spending on education.

Now you guys have Trudeau, waiting to see who he will trot out the war measures act to combat? Islamists? Hmmmmmmmm.....

Next time I will preview my comment, I see that I made a ton of mistakes, I will do better in the future. Thanks.

Fox, very well said spelling aside. Sad to say but if the Jews didn't vote for him, he might have lost. There were a lot of close ridings.
